Lightbulb Got a fiddy? Mini-Motard? post up

I'm looking for riders with 50's or mini-motard's to form a racing series at a local kart track. I used to race a ysr there years ago, but the series petered out. I've spoken to the track owners and they would love to have a new bike series, but I would need to have a list of interested particapants before going any further. So if you've got a ysr/crf50/or really any other bike with 12" tires, post up, or pm me so I can get a list going. With the right amount of interest, we could even run classes. This is the cheapest way I know of for roadracing, I never changed my tires or my brakes the whole time I raced there! Any small mx bike can be run with the right tires, the track is technical and well maintained.

So post up, or shoot me a pm and I'll get back to interested parties with detailed info.

If there is a good series and schedule that I can attend i'd buy a 50 and mini-motard it. I'd like some more info as far as classifications for bikes, cost estimates, trophies prizes and the likes.

ok, first off, all of this depends on the amount of interest. If I could find 15 or so riders we'd be off to a good start. That said, the pit fees would be @30, then there would be a race fee for each class entered. I would assume that would be also @30 for one class and 25 for the second class. I am basing this on my experience there, thats what the fees were when I raced. The classes we had there (mind you this was YSR's ONLY) were stock and modified. Stock was just that, stock, you could change tires, brake pads, bodywork, reeds, and that was it. Modified was basically run what ya brung. I would like to see a more diverse crowd of bikes, not just YSR's, but motards, NSR's (maybe somebody has one of those old mini-GSXR's that they gave away with a new bike, that would be cool!), things like that. Decisions would be made as to what races with what after heat races before the main, obviously if someone shows up with a 125 stuffed in a pocket bike chassis, that's not gonna fly! As far as prizes/trophies go, there were trophies for 1st through 5th place. There will also be a points system in place, and a No-points endurance race near the end of the season. (done it, try staying on a ysr for 150 laps!) That day we also did qual. runs for fastest flying lap (guess who holds the track record ) and we had trophies for that too. We'd also have an awards banquet at the end of the season for points awards and the like. I'd like to set all of this up this winter, but I need to know that there are serious particapants ready to go, not "we'll see or maybe if I have the time. " This requires a lot of planning and negotiation on my part to make sure it's enjoyable for everyone, but I need to know there are enough participants to make it go.

As far as a track map goes, there used to be one on the website, but it's gone, my best explanation is S/F line/Banked nascar oval turn 1-2/downhill left hand hairpin/flat right hand 90 degree/short straight/flat right hand 180degree hairpin/flat lefthand 180degree hairpin/slightly banked nascar oval turn 3-4/Straight to S/F line.

Here's a satellite map of the place

Here is some info that might help you out.

Sugarhill currently hosts a 10 race pocketbike race series that has been pretty successful for the last 2 years at least comparing it to their kart grids. If you get something together at sugarhill request to run on the same days as the Pocketbikes, it would be great to keep the bikes together. The Pocket bike Club is Area 51 and will soon have a name change for 2007. We have classes for everything from the junk chinese 2.5hp bikes right up the the 15hp Euro bikes, gotta have 6.5" or smaller wheels, no suspension, and no gears.

Sugarhill also hosted a mini-tard series in 2005 sponsored by Concord Motorcycle Shop in Concord, NH. In 2006 that series moved to a RC course in concord for some reason. You may want to contact them to see what their plans are for 2007. It may be tough to hold 2 series together within 15 miles of each other.

Cost at sugarhill for pitpass and 2 classes of racing was $57 for members in 2006. Membership is $40 for the year and gets you a $5 per class discount and enters you in the season points race.

mmm, no pocket bikes, I dunno how you guys ride those things, I'm not a big guy either, and I can't deal with those things. I rode one around the track once and didn't even make a full lap. You're not Tony Zappala(sp?) are you?

It looks like they lowered the pit/class fees. When I raced there Tom Sadowski was the sponsor (Dave Sadowski's uncle) Maybe he charged a litte extra for the trophies and such, I dunno. I'm not really looking to have a supermoto-esq series there anyway, I don't think that Archie would go for us ripping up the grass on his infield for sure. I'd rather see it be a roadracing series, for 12" tire bikes (tire size may be flexible, I know the hondas are something like 10.5") either mini-sportbikes like the YSR or 'tarded fiddys.

    Good luck putting something together.

Is that a 4 stroke only event or would a 2 stroke 40-50cc bike be allowed to race?

    NO POCKETBIKES.

It's a miniMOTARD series. Don't shoot the messenger. Cycles128 race will have a few YSR50's mixed in because that's a longstanding Cycles128 tradition. But again.. NO POCKETBIKES.

Hey bud, I was just bustin' balls

That flier you posted to show me the classes however does not specify that it is a motard only event, doesn't even mention the word MOTARD, nor does it specify if a 2 stroke motard would be allowed, a KX85 in the 50-89cc class could be ugly. And you proved my point before I did by saying that there would be YSRs racing, those certainly are not motards.

    Just a thought.

Well it's put on by Transworld Motocross so...

The only reason YSR's are allowed at Cycles128 is because Cycles has been doing a singular race for like 15 years in their parking lot. The last few years Transworld has been involved, it's become a minimotard thing, but the YSR's (like 2 of them that Cycles128 owns) are allowed to compete out of respect for the Cycles crew, their history with the race, and the fact the race is held on their property.

Two strokes are definintely not allowed, so KX60's and the like are no-no's. Again. YSR's are twostrokes, refer to above explination on that one.

Hey Pocketbike are fun. I bought 8 Polini's for work. I've diced with Marco and Wilkey. Run a bunch of pocketbike races myself. Sorry not more PB races around for the PB crowd.

We've actually got a pretty good PB series going at Sugarhill and will have another track up and running in VT for 2007.

i want in!! gotta get some street tires.. maybe just some new rims i can do limited, unlimited, senior and fatboy unless i lie and do mod with you

the only thing that is keeping me from saying "ill do it" is the possibility of a scheduling conflict. with work on sat. and "real" racing at NHIS

Yea I'd heard about the Sugarhill stuff, wasn't sure how strong it was still looking based on your earlier posts. Maybe I didn't read them close enough. Sounds good about the VT one.

OXX: What "real" races at NHIS will keep you from racing on November 12th? Last time I checked LRRS was over for the season.
