I got the lo-jack installed on my bike when I bought it...cost $595 plus tax, and then had to pay for the mandatory 2.5 hours of service to install it (around $180, I think). That's one route to go, the recovery rate is pretty successful from what I hear.
I've also thought about getting the Scorpio bike alarm, from what I've seen it's the titsCosts about $300-500, but its instant feedback through the handheld fob (perimeter sensor, tilt sensor, ignition disabler, etc). Pretty cool/high-tech stuff.
Thats the one I had. I never used it. The handheld fob blew. It was effective within like 30 feet.
An alarm aitn gonna stop someone from stealing your bike. Like I say, I used it mainly so people wouldnt sit on my bike or fuck with it while I was in class. I still used a disk lock and kept full insurance. I wasnt counting on the alarm to do a whole lot of anything.
Ah...I see. I thought it would've been a helluva lot more than that (I think they advertise a 1/2 mile, wtf?? Maybe 'ideal conditions,' no buildings/trees/air particles in the way?). Well in that case, I guess the lo-jack is still a decent option, but you have to weigh the cost/benefit ratio. Maybe its really a matter of how bad you want YOUR bike back, instead of having your insurance buy you a new one.
oh ill use the power all right....maybe not while on newbury street but on the way home on the 93 south split i sure will.
and yeah jim im actually considering doing that and i ordered up some chrome rims and a shiny helmet visor so we can match perfectly
and as for lojack and alarms...sounds like a shitload of money. i might just chain the damn thing to my house with the biggest kryptonite lock they have

Congrats. Just also got a 750, fun stuff.
Looks real nice Ben congrats.
thanks for the congrats folks...
i like it alot so far. i had a 2001 r1 before this...and so far ive noticed that this is definitely lighter and more agile and much more responsive on the throttle....probably because of the furl injection (01 r1 was carb'd). comfort wise i havent been able to tell much difference yet, but this does have a double bubble screen, so much less wind resistance than the r1s almost pointless windscreen
