We gotta hook up bro....
I still need springs and seals. I am seriously considering doing the rebuild myself. That means I'll need a fork oil level adjuster and maybe some more tools though. I want the compression adjusters from my 9r forks though. Still contemplating it versus sending them in to someone. As you know, without the right tools it is a 2 man job.....LOL.

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
It's not that hard at all, Rye. Just follow the directions that come with the valves. We make a fork oil level 'gadget' simply with a piece of a small dowel. Just make the marks on it for the levels you need. An extra set of hands and a vice (with padded anvils) and a micrometer definitely helps though. Racetech is great with the instructions they include...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?

Send them to someone who knows. Most of you guys who did your own are now sending them to Kevin. There's more to it then just changing parts.

Just be carefull of scams.
I recieved a notice the other day from a woman telling myself and about 20 others that responded to a bike she posted on e-bay, but she no longer had control of. Someone hacked into her account and was making deals on her bike trying to get people to send him cash via Western Union to an England address. He put the 2001 R1 at a buy it now price of $3500, which said included shipping. I E-mailed about the item to get info how to go about this purchase, but I was 99% sure it was a scam when he gave me the info about payment/shipping. Be carefull, I have found this a few times on e-bay. If you see a nice bike for a low buy it now price, and the buyer wants western union check only I would pass it by. It is too good to be true!

Ditto on that one. You CAN do it yourself, but I won't ever again. There is just too much you can easily screw up. The biggest mistake is getting the threadlock on the shims.Originally posted by Collision pro

Just my opinion.

Tools are my only hindrance. I don't feel intimidated with the setups of USD's. But considering 1) The tools are $$$$$ and limited use items. 2) I don't have time nor patience to build homemade knockoffs. They will likely go to a builder.
