Frightening video...is it Louden

I ran across this video sometime back. Really pretty scary, it looks like Louden (just newly paved) does anyone know the history? Needless to say I hope all involved were ultimately O.K. I was a bit concerned posting it.

Yes, that is Loudon. I found that video online about a year ago... I think someone has posted it here before.

The injuries were pretty severe from what I recall but no fatalities.

Nasty, to say the least. There was a little debate about it on here I believe.

I am of the opinion that the second the rider on the ground signaled briefly that he was injured, on the race line, coming out of a blind corner... the race should have been red flagged immediately and the injuries to the corner workers and riders could have been avoided.

It is also the reason I don't let my wife corner work.

Definitely Loudon as they mentioned, a lot of people I corner work with know the people involved as i recall. A lot of things have to go wrong at once for that to happen. I dont know a ton about this specific incident but it doesnt look like any of the riders were reacting to a waving flag in Turn 2 as they were coming through at speed, so I have to assume there was no flag waving.

Id doesnt look like anyone was "pushing" traffic for them, one of them should have gone to the bike and the other should have stayed at the corner pushing traffic to let the riders know to go high or low.

Also Turn 2 is now corner worked from the outside of the turn which means you dont have to run across traffic to get to someone (unless they end up on the inside which rarely happens).

Above all, with a rider or bike down in the line like that, with a pack coming, the race should have been stopped. Again I dont know if red flags were out or not and those riders just didnt take the flag at that point etc.. but I have corner worked every race except 1 for almost 2 years and have not seen anything that I wouldnt consider "mostly safe" unless someone was an idiot and put themselves in a bad spot. And the corner captains were all over them to make them understand how to be safe.

There are obviously inherent risks involved with corner working.. depending on how you do it there are more. But in the end if you get hurt, you cant help the rider(s) so personal safety has to be number 1.

From what we hear from the people behind the camera, there was no flagging. They keep on saying "stop the race! Put the red flag!!" so wasn't there a corner worker to take the flag out? That scene looked terrible...

- Corner workers have more restrictions on what/how they can go on the track to help downed riders

- Red Flag flies faster now

I was standing inside the fence in turn 2 yelling for them to red flag it.

I just realized who the corner worker was...I was introduced to him and his wife Ann (who is racing) this summer. I was told about his accident...Very nice folks.

I was there that day and remember John Gold Taking the video. Very scary day at the track indeed. Couldn't believe what happened that day... I was watching the race from Turn Three during the incedent.

Shit I cringe everytime I see it. That is by far the worst thing I have ever seen. The aftermath is Horrifying. Seeing the track up close and personal that day was even worse... I wont even say what I saw. Believe e it made it worse than what you see here. I thought someone was dead without a second thought about it... I am glad everyone from that day from what I recall hearing is they are all recovered and well.. Can anyone varify that?
