Clay, Jeff and I were ripping up 112...the up hill sweeper right before you get to the end of 116...triple digit speeds, all tucked in...clay in lead, jeff in the middle and me in back. Passed a statie half way up the hill coming down in the other lane. Jeff sat up and cut the throttle, I stayed tucked in and went around him on the inside and gunned it up the hill. Jeff saw that, tucked back in and followed suit.

Stopped to take a break on a early season group ride out to Mt.Greylock off Rt.2 on some twisties. Oreo decided to take the KLR for a rip up and down the road while we were resting. Takes off and spools it up in first gear. Reaches redline. Still no shifting......more redline. Still no shifting.....comes back and says "I thought it rev'd higher than that!". We were all standing on the side of the road yelling SHIFT! SHIFT!

Who'd a thunk a bike would be at the limiter at 12rpm and 7mph?

My first ever group ride.

Me on my R1 and 3 others on FZ1's...

Half way through the day in "I dont even know where" Vermont we start down this dirt road. I look up and the 2 up front take off like its nothing. to my right, a sign. its reads "Winding Dirt Road Next 11 Miles"....

I stop as does the 4th rider. we talk for a second. I get off my bike have a cigarette. About 5 minutes later the other 2 show up....

a certain someone who knows who they are "Whats going on why did you stop"

me "apparently this road goes on for 11 miles like this"

or something along those lines. needless to say it was not the first dirt road of the day.

1. BladeRider getting pissed at me for a 2-up wheelie.

2. Running over ducks. Almost killing everyone.

3. Getting pulled over on a British Iron Association ride for popping a wheelie.

4. Getting pulled over on a group ride in NH for popping a wheelie INFRONT OF THE POLICE STATION.

5. Big group ride with local guys, all hit this one piece of road up in VT by the Bear Swamp Dam... we all hit a switch-back turn and crest just right at about 60mph where I could see all 10 guys in front of me crest the hill on one wheel. It was amazing.

many years ago, a bunch of us were sitting at a breakfast place just finishing up our meals and getting ready to pay our checks when a new guy to the group showed up , we assumed that he was just going to skip breakfast at that point being that it was close to the posted ride leave time .
He said do you guys mind if I grab a quick bite , and like idiots we said yeh, grab something quick . We were figuring it would be a breakfast sandwich that he would choke down on the way to the parking lot . But as we watched him eat his eggs, homefries, bacon,sausage, toast, cup of coffee, OJ and a glass of milk. we then realize that we are leaving for the ride some 35-40 minutes later than we wanted to for the ride . As we get out to the parking lot he says I need gas , and like idiots we waited for him to gas up .
Come to find out not only is this guy new to the group , but new to bikes in general and very much a beginner , and like idiots we waited for him at every turn for several minutes each time , putting us further and further behind schedule for the planned route of the day . The moment that finally ended it was when we were waiting in a gas station at the end of 8A and he pulls in 15 minutes behind us , come to find out back several miles where a side street comes down to 8A there was a pick up truck that stopped at the intersection , this guy thought that the side street had the right of way and stopped on 8A to let the guy go , the truck waved him to go but he didn't move , then all of a sudden he decided to go at the same time the truck did , grabbed a hand full of front brake and down he went . Like idiots we let him continue the day with us as he had no idea where he was, didn;t have any maps to get him self home . Finally it was getting dark , and we needed to get home so we told him he was on his own , gave him a couple route numbers to follow to get him in the general direction of his home .


This was one of the defining moments for me in leading group rides to be honest and up front when I post a ride. I will spell it out very clear so that everyone is on the same page . I also pick meeting spots that are at a gas station with a dunkin donuts . I post the details .

you are on your own to get home after lunch so bring a map or GPS

Camp Meade overnight trip, maybe 30 bikes? Who was that woman that yelled at us and told us all to grow up because we had a remote control fart machine by the campfire?

the funnier part was that we all went out to eat , some 30 of us to 1 pizza place , she didn;t want to go and asked if someone could just bring her back a pizza , when we returned some 2+ hours later ( did I mention that 30 of us went to the same pizza place all at once ) she was mad that it took so long for her food to get back.
then we were sitting around drinking , swearing and really getting into lifting a cheak each time the fart machine went off, she picked up her pizza , said "THESE ARE NOT MY TYPE OF PEOPLE" and stormed off to her cabin not to been seen again for the night .
Then the next morning a couple of us approached her to appologize and explain that it was a fart machine and not real farts, she wanted to have nothing to do with the appology .

I am pretty sure that roy divorced her not to long after , apparantly she was "not his kind of people "

As funny as it was to try to push-start my 250 after the battery crapped out in upstate NY (thanks guys), I don't have any photos to prove it.

I do, however, have this from an ADVRider event:


You'll note the ride picking his R1200GS up from the stream. You may also note that the actual exit from the streambed is to looker's left, whereas said rider blithely rode into the stream and straight across before noticing that he had nowhere to go.

We were very fortunate that Antoine's shop happened to be just up the road (literally) and that one of the guys on the ride knew of it. The R1200GS was fine, eventually, but I believe it went home on a trailer to get more thoroughly cleaned out.

Last May, a gang of 5 on a Mille, ZX6, Ninja 500, 82 Suzuki 650g, and me on my Tuono. A ride up to Rangeley on Rt 17 in lousy weather avoiding potholes and frost heaves. My friend on my wifes Ninja 500 leading the way and getting out of sight as speeds decrease. The rest of us round a corner and in the distance we see the Ninja in stopped in the middle of the road with our bud next to it gesturing wildly. We weren't sure if he hit something or what. As we get closer it is apparent that he was doing jumping jacks while waiting for us to catch up!! Typical Jarhead!! After laughs at lunch and improving weather I threw him the key to the T so he could get his speed jones. Good Times.

I had to do something to keep warm while waiting on you guys.

Went on another Fall Advrider ride in NH. After a fuel stop a group of about 10 bikes took off, led by a guy on a KTM who was impatient with the pace. One of my buddies took off with them, not realizing it was a splinter group.

He showed up to the pre-arranged lunch 45 minutes late, alone. We asked him what happened and he said "Not sure - I set off alone after we passed the same variety store for the third time."
