Who'd a thunk at this point of my riding career I'd be going through the MSF Beginner Rider Workbook with a pencil & highlighter?
I had an MSF Rider Coach Orientation meeting on Sunday before the Super Bowl... The meeting only lasted a couple of hours & we got our Rider Coach Guides & other materials as well as our first homework assignment... Gotta answer 70 freakin questions by the first day of "school".
The Workshop itself starts on Feb 28th & goes through March 22nd. Can't wait.Jack Wedemeyer is teaching it and when it's all said & done I should be coaching for Ironstone primarily up in North Andover.

Perfect... I'll be sure to post my schedule when I get it, I'm sure I can use you as an example of how not to ride...
Especially when you're on the highway in a "group"![]()

Good Luck Pete. I really like being an MSF Coach... I just wish I had more time to teach.
The classroom stuff is pretty easy, just don't deviate from the MSF curiculum.
The range is a challenge at times. Sometimes you want to do it "better" and you just have to do it "per the MSF".
You'll be fine and I am sure you will pass with flying colors.

Oh you don't have to worry about that.... I correctly answered kind of a tricky question he asked everyone in the class and he asked me if I had any teaching experience... I said "Yeah, I'm an instructor up at Loudon... I work with KEN CONDON"
Rye, send Alice on up!
Thanks Doc... I'm sure I'll love it![]()

Congrats! I love the MSF program and can't wait to begin my rider coach training experience on March 28th-April something haha. The thing that really sucks is that the first year all of the classes are already taken. So I can already see that I am not going to get many classes this year.![]()

Don't mention my name either! I don't want to hear what he says.....
Jack is a great guy, but as Degs said tough.
I just know you are gonna rock this course.![]()
LOL, have fun Pete! I took my MSF course in North Andover last summer; there are some really nice people over there. Good luck with your workshop!Who'd a thunk at this point of my riding career I'd be going through the MSF Beginner Rider Workbook with a pencil & highlighter?

Congrats bud... doesn't surprise me to hear you're goin for an MSF coaching spot
This is definitely something I'm interested in doing at some point... I just feel awkward trying for it since I've only been riding since 06. I love the idea of passing on knowledge and teaching others... 90% of what I know is track based though I suppose.
Just don't let them know what happens when one of your buds run's out of gas on the Leverett connector at night.

sweet about the course! The only thing that bums me out about MSF is the LACK in frequency of courses. It seems whenever I hear of someone wanting to take a course, they are full until march of 2052, which in RI is a real problem since you CANT get licensed without taking one.... (so lots ride without licensing).
But I suppose having more instructors is the first step to solving that issue, so good on you!

A bunch of years back while Joe Poria of Ironstone Ventures and I were having a few beers in Germany after riding all the European Alps high passes he said to me, "Graham why don't you become a MSF Instructor"?
I asked, "What’s involved in doing that"?
Joe said, "Amongst a number of things you are interviewed by me and I ask why you want to become a MSF Instructor". I said, "Obviously, it's to meet chicks and make money"!
Joe nearly dropped his liter beer stein..... Laughing he said, "You are right. --- but most guys say something like - "To give back to the motorcycle community and to help improve the profile and skills of street riders....you know the world peace bit...”
So Pete, what did you say?

Well Grasshopper, you decided to take the plunge, huh?
You will do great with all of the classroom experience you've gotten with TTD.
It's great to "give back to the motorcycle community and to help improve the profile and skills of street riders", uh I mean meet chicks.Or in the case of Jane, to meet aspiring biker dudes.
As far as the curriculum goes the trick for a knowledgeable rider becoming an instructor is to open your mind the the MSF "way" and limit customization/personalization. You can make it your own...within certain confines. And for God's sake don't go contradicting the trainer by saying "but Ken says in his book..."![]()
Congrats, Pete...I have a friend to sign up for the class. Are dates scheduled yet?
