I saw that a while ago on another forum....apparently they're made of the material that the space shuttle windows are made out of, and are VERY resiliant to breaking, scratching, even getting dirty. They say you only have to basically wipe them off and everything wipes clean and they look like new.
As tough as it may be, I would still have a hard time trusting them with a large side load in a car!
Neat idea though.

No LEXAN is a trademark name for a polycarbonate
I would put them on a show bike or car.
