    A Stars gear

I think I have decided to get 2 jackets, one mesh type for commuting, and one "jacket system" for all season and longer rides.

Anyway, is Alpine Stars riding gear any good, or is it just for show? Jackets in particular? How do the sizes run?

    Re: A Stars gear

I've got a A* rc51 jacket that I zip onto some A* track pants for aggressive rides, etc. I think it's a quality jacket: thick leather, stiched well, etc. and I'd be definately not afraid to go down it in.

As far as sizes go, I find it to be spot on. It fits me, but it's fairly tight. I can't really get my back protector underneath it comfortably so if you want to do that, go one size up. I kind of wish I would have done that.

Alpinestars makes great shit. But they have low and high quality stuff. My MX-1 jacket cost me $545.00 and worth every penny. My matching track pants were $379.00
This is for top of the line stuff. I love their stuff.

Alpinestar is top notch i race in it...

go with a perf leather instead of mesh. the mesh evaporates when in contact with pavement.

Yeah, I prefer textile for the street. It's so much more comfy and it is good for one crash, which is all I need it for. it's not like I'm throwing it down the road very often...

i ordered a summer jacket from astars. I'll let you know how the quality is...

BTW, they sell using the euro sizing. (at least it was this way for my 2 pc.) Make sure you order it right. Usually there will be a chart you can reference.

    Re: A Stars gear

I ordered one size up because I've read that they run small... I'm in between a small and med. so I ordered med.

I've got a perf leather and its pretty good quality. I rode in it yesterday and when you're moving its not that bad.

The first jacket i ordered was too tight so i returned it for a size up.

I just got this Alpinestars jacket recently and it is great so far, definitely seems like quality jacket and super comfy for warm riding/commuting so far.

I'm neck to toe in Alpinestars gear, TLD suit, GP tech gloves and SMX4 boots. It's high end stuff, I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

    Re: A Stars gear

Finally got the jacket sorted. Med was too big, so I returned it for a small. Just took a quick run up 116 to test it. It rocks! It's like having airconditioning on. The CE armor in the shoulders and elbows is great. Better than my Vanson textile jacket armor. The back pad offers good coverage, but is just flimsy foam I got the CE back pad upgrade, and it's rigid, but small. I think I'm going to attach it to the foam one and run them both.

    Re: A Stars gear

I have an A* Vector suit for 3 seasons that I have crashed on twice and countless lowsides in parking lots on the TTR, and a MX1 jacket and trackpants that have only seen one full season of street riding and a trackday. The suit is great, and the second crash I was shocked to realize that I wasn't hurt at all. Everything is holding up great.
