Eric, I suppose Corey is got a good point. I mean the throttle on that 1000rr of yours is very sensitive.

Nearing the straight away at Jersey I had to twist my wrist real bad...so I got a motion pro kit for the 600rr.

If you really believe you need the quick action kit, there was is a guy on 600rr.net that sells the HRC quick action tubes for about $45. Otherwise the motion pro kit is a really nice option.

    Regards

    Re: Educate me...1/4 turn throttle

I found a change in how I was gripping the throttle eliminated a LOT of wrist work on the GS (Long throttle action, and you're almost always going right to WOT with a whopping 40hp to 'manage'). Instead of laying your meat hook directly on the throttle like you're preparing to lift a dumbell, come at it from the side, so your arm is aiming in the same direction as the bar itself almost. You'll find the sideways light grip allows you to get a wide range of throttle action with almost no wrist involvement. Hard to describe on a forum, lots of guys can show you in person.

    Re: Educate me...1/4 turn throttle

R6 come with 1/5 or 1/6 turn throttle to begine with, why mod to ¼ turn

R5 throttle is common mod for ¼turn throttle on other bikes

    Re: Educate me...1/4 turn throttle

The R6 stock throttle is definitely not less than a 1/4 turn. I don't think any stock bikes have true 1/4 turn throw.

In general, I get BETTER feel with a short throw throttle. I improves my riding because it opens the throttle wider when I crack it open, and as long as you're not spinning, more throttle makes the bike behave better, not to mention it's faster! There is also a big difference in acceleration between WOT at the stops, and 90-95 percent throttle.

I have never noticed a downside to a short throw throttle on the track. 1/4 turn is actually still a pretty long pull in my world. 1/6 turn is pretty radical. That's about 55 degrees of rotation vs. 90 degrees on a 1/4 turn set up. Most stock bikes are 100 degrees or so in my experience.

    Re: Educate me...1/4 turn throttle

Most bikes are right around 1/4 turn (90*) or MAYBE a hair more from the factory. I personally like a quicker turn throttle on just about any bike and don't see any reason why a rider with any reasonable level of throttle control SHOULDN'T ride a bike with one... but I'm not sure it's worth 100 bucks. That's kinda steep.

I went with a poor man's quick turn on my SV which consisted of an R6 throttle tube (which has a slightly larger cam than the stock SV) and actually added to the diameter by super glueing a zip tie onto the cam. I haven't measured it accurately but I'm guessing it's right around 70-75 degrees.

    Re: Educate me...1/4 turn throttle

I used an R6 tube on my GS for a bit, loved the action but got bit by the tube not being designed for my throttle housing during a crash. Tube rolled backwards right past the stop. If swapping tubes make sure the stop engages fully in your throttle housing! (SV tubes have a bigger stop on the tube, so SV users should check just to be sure too.)

Hey Eric! Yeah, like Oreo said, it's easy enough to make the cam bigger yourself! Save the money for something else.
I just super glued some thin rubber from some rubber tubeing I had laying around to the cam and just trimmed it nice and neat so the cable transitioned easy and that it turned without hanging up. Works very nice!! Throttle turns about 1.5", maybe a tad more or less.
    Good Luck!

Can't agree with this enough. I tried the R6 tube on my SV and had it stick open on me. Thankfully, it was a trackday, so I had a little left in reserve to make it through the corner a bit faster once I got it shut, but I know a couple people who weren't so lucky.

I'm a big fan of a quicker-throw tube for the track, but if you're going that route, I recommend buying one designed for your bike instead of trying to mod one from another machine.

I use a motion pro revolver kit. It has 5 different cams and there is no worry about sticking or fitment. Nice piece.

07 R6 comes stock with a 1/6 turn throttle tube. why would you want to get more throw? are you saying the stock one is too short?

One way I've heard the proper position described is to hold it like a hammer, not like a dumbbell.
