It doesn't sound like he rev'd the engine when he lost traction. There must have been something on the pavement (oil slick) which combined with cold new tires equals a low side.
uhh looked like a highside - he started to slide because he was backing it in to pass that PT cruiser, let go of gas and tire got traction and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
