Those are the old school Harley riders I respect. By the look of his packing job, he may have ridden half way across the country to make Bike Week. Unfortunately, for every guy like him, there's a hundred that trailer or haul their bikes up to pose and ride less than a 100 miles all week. Their a dying breed.
Same with Sturgis. It use to be a badge of honor to make the ride to these events. Oh well, times change.

I saw lots of bikes on trailers heading down the pike-495 the past couple of days away from NH
I live in NH and have seen things change over the last 20+ years. The cool stories over morning coffee and hangovers has changed from;
" There I was in east bumfuck Kentucky, it's 2 a.m. and pouring buckets. All of a sudden BAM! I hit something and my front tire is flat. I ride it out and get 'er pulled over. Pitch black, soaked to the bone and strugglin to get the new tube in and guess who pulls up behind me.? Ol' Bob here. He got a late start leaving Texas and God only knows why he was on that road at O dark thirty. We get 'er fixed and get back on the road. Miserable 12 hours more of poring rain but, we made it! "
To;
" I got an awesome deal on the HD bar glass set. I bought this Harley jacket and the matching chaps and Seacoast Harley gave me the set at half price and a free HD bandanna to boot! I'm tying that bad boy to the truck mirror for the drive home! "

That's a classic picture
yea, we rode up Saturday morning. Saw plenty of trailered bikes heading north AND south. We did a quick walk around the main street, got an official t'shirt, and then left for a long loop ride home. Did 450 miles in the day.
I'm riding to Sturgis with the same guy. And I know he will say a 'mother fucker' to every trailer we pass.
If my Harley is on a trailer yuo can best best it's broken.... I've never trailered it anywhere and there is no place I wont get on it and ride too. I didn't even go to Laconia this year I don't need the freak show. I rather ride not walk around looking at all the RUB's...
If I where to even go to one of those shit shows (I've been but was working the show) I would either trailer my bike or not bring it. I try very hard everytime I'm on my bike to avoid traffic, why the f would I drive right into a massive grid lock. Not to mention it's the same shit that annoys me about Honey Dew and Dunks in Salem, a bunch of Harley riders more concerned with looking like hard asses than riding.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
I'll admit, I have trailered my Harley to Daytona. But that's because it's February and snowing or zero degrees and I only get a week off. If I spend 2 1/2 days each way that leaves 2 days of vacation. On the trailer we can do it in a day, take turns driving the truck and ride in Florida for 5 days.
I've been to Sturgis 2x's and rode the distance (once on a sportster), Myrtle Beach once, and Laconia (big deal) about 20 times.
The best ride I ever did in a day was when I lived in Philly. A buddy and I got up early to ride the tail of the dragon and back in a day. I think it was like 950 miles, most of them with smiles on our faces
currently just an oldman bike, but searching for my new ride
.Sold to a guy in Mississippisearching for a new ride.
