I've done it and i'm guessing most here have as well.

I'm not saying you have to drag knee... but until I see chrome dildos on the truck, you need some legit sliders on the gsxr... come on man, us suzuki guys have a reputation to kill!

    Re: Hello Mr. Lanesplitter guy

    My lane splitting story:
Two summers ago I went to get my license in Quincy. Took the test, got the paper, blah blah blah. I rode over to GBM later that day in Arlington, and I'm riding back on mass ave. I'm splitting at a red light, maybe 10mph and see a detec in an unmarked car on the right. I say fuck it and keep going right passed his window. 4 or 5 lights later I'm pulled over and the guy says to me:

"I'm the head of Cambridge motorcycle police and have 55 officers riding below me." My heart stopped, he asks me for my license and then asks why its paper and how long I've had it.

    "O about 20 minutes..." haha

he proceeds to give me a $150 ticket and the "You're going to kill yourself speech. Personally, it hasn't stopped me, I truly believe everyone should have a bike, and because of this everyone should be able to experience the perks a bike presents. fuckin cops

I lived in california and split the traffic on the 101 and bay bridge everyday for two years... it was critical. Hear in NE, I got nailed in hampton for trying to keep my engine block from cracking... lame

For my money, it's a bad bet. It's too easy for them to veer into us and even though they were the aggressor, LEO will start with our illegal lane splitting and the cager's claim that "they never saw us" and both the damage and the fault will be ours.

All the while, the cager will be smiling inside because they know they attacked us and got away with it.

I will filter through stopped traffic at a red light to gain some space when the light turns green, but I don't lane split in stop 'n go or on the highway.

    But it should be legal.
Well said & agreed - I hereby nominate you to be our spokesperson so we can get the Law changed.

I think if you try hard enough, you CAN do it in your truck. Might tend to piss off other drivers a little more than if you did it on your bike. Cause a little more damage, too.

Almost every time I've been on a ride where someone picked up a nail (including myself), it was on a ride where we used the breakdown lane.

I was on the west coast last week and got passed by lane splitters twice. They both startled me pretty good coming out of nowhere it seemed (probably because I'm not a local) but I didn't get upset at them.

I lane-split a few weeks ago and heard the word "Lucky!" as I drove by one of the cars.

Yep. It was nice to not sit in traffic for 2 hours on 93.

I lane split once following someone years ago. That was the one and only time I lane split, very slow as to watch for assholes, and I unzipped the jacket to show cleavage and actually had cars wave me thru to follow the guy ahead of me..(degs). I'll never do it again here in MA too scary with all the freaks on the road.

    Habitual offender.

I'll do it anywhere, anytime traffic is below 20 mph on the interstate.

You know others have been saying this too, but in general I hardly ever get any flak. Been doing it for years and years now.
I sometimes even have people pull over to make more room.
    I know when I'm caging I do.
But I do it mainly to get up to a red light in stopped traffic.

Thanks for all that replied - I don't have a circle of motorcycle buddies like I did in CA here so I really just needed to check the local "pulse" on this topic.

Clearly most of us are risk-takers as we all ride motorcycles...I will pick and choose my splitting a little more carefully but I def. won't be sitting in traffic anymore.

Might even help out with the exploding radiator issues I've dealt with lately.
