MERRIMACK, N.H. -- A serious collision between a car and a motorcycle shut down one lane of the Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack.
Police said that a car trying to turn onto Smith Street cut off a man riding a motorcycle. The 27-year-old man on the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
"He was thrown approximately 20, 25 feet onto the shoulder of the road on a grassy area off the breakdown lane," Lt. Brian Boulay said. "To the best of my knowledge, he was not wearing a helmet."
The injuries to the motorcycle rider and driver of the car were not considered life-threatening. No charges have been filed.

Does this surprise anyone? I was on the big big long ride, and we must have passed 100 bikers with no helmets
Ya know, this is my first season riding. I thought I was being a newb cuz I always wear gear. I ride that route all the time as I'm in Manch and the GF is in Merrimack. 90-95% of the riders I see never have helmets on, and I think, "wow, what a dork I must look like all geared up when it's 90+ degrees outside".
I'm gonna keep wearing the damn gear. Hope the guy pulls through alright.
How 'bout that guy that stopped and talked to us at the swimming hole while we were awaiting the outcome of the Enforcement Conference that was taking place in Lincoln. No helmet, red eyes (beer and whatever?). He just got done telling us about a crash he had a year ago which left him disabled for 2 months. When I pointed out that he still wasn't wearing a helmet he said, "I ride because I love the wind in my hair and on my face." I shit you not...
....can't fix stupid...

The only time I ever not wear a helmet is when I'm on the Hampton strip. Otherwise, helmet all the time.
I went up to Maine and on the way up, from NH to Maine, every motorcycle I saw, none of the riders wore a helmet. I was doing 85 in my SUV and my windshield was covered with bugs. It's bad enough you have a slim chance of living, why take that slim chance away?
Last month one of my buddies rode home from work. He was doing 75 and was about 3 seconds behind a big truck. The truck's spare tire came off and hit him straight on. He went flying 300 feet. Miraculously he only suffered some bruises, scrapes and a dislocated thumb which required surgery. His helmet was severely damage. Can you believe what would happened had he not wear a helmet? That slim chance gave him a second chance at life.

There was another one in Nashua at ~5:00pm at the intersection of Pine Hill Rd. and Charron Rd. which basically cuts from the Nashua Airport over to 101A. I don't have any details other than it was a white Harley and a gray car. The right quarter panel of the car was beat up and the front tire and forks of the Harley were tucked under the bike enough it couldn't be rolled away from the scene. Unlikely there was a full face helmet and full leathers involved with a bike like that but I'm hoping whoever it is pulls through.
I had some dipshit playing games on the highway in Manch the other morning at 6:00 am... 80+ helmet less with his fat ass cheeks and 3'rd chin flappin in the wind .... priceless!!!
