from Shoei's website
Important Notice Sales and shipping of Shoei® helmets manufactured for markets other than the United States (and thus not satisfying the specific United States Department of Transportation requirements FMVSS-218) into the United States violates applicable United States Federal law and related regulations. For riders in States that have helmet requirements, failure to wear a motorcycle helmet satisfying Federal DOT standards constitutes a violation of applicable State law.
I'm leaning toward a plain black Shoei RF-1400 for $579...

a bit on the heavy side, I bought mine as a gag, turned out to be my best fitting and mot importantly best venting helmet I ever had, my eyeglasses do not fog at all, don't have to crack the visor like every other helmet I have when I come to a stop. The peak doesn't catch the wind, helmet is supposedly designed in a wind tunnel
the only negative is the weight for a long day of riding

You’re built like me but bigger, that means you have a Shoei head. Bell and Arai and others all make great helmets, Shoei is what fits me best. I have an RF1400 and an RF1100 before that, great helmets. Wouldn’t recommend the X-Fourteen really, it’s just lighter and has fancier aero…race track stuff.
If you’re not sure on fitment, go to Seacoast. They’re super good at fitting helmets. Name drop some dudes from here and you’ll probably get a “racer discount.” They took a nice % off the RF-1400 I bought there last year. FWIW, I went there to buy a Bell Race Star…they didn’t fit me right.

Damn, I got mine from motosport.com
Technically I should replace my Shoei RF due to it's age. Shoei helmets fit me really well so kind of want to stick with the brand. I also want to get a Cardo Bluetooth device for receiving phone calls while riding. My job has oncall responsibilities and the weekends I'm on call, I don't ride which is bumming me out. Getting a Cardo allows me to ride whenever I want and don't have to worry about missing a call. I could by the Cardo now but the thing is, I don't really want to mount it in my old helmet since the adhesives are a one time use only.
Little off topic......
I know the other option would be to mount cell phone to handlebars and just keep an eye out for missed calls on the screen. Yea I know you can get dampeners to prevent damage to the lens stabilization mechanism. The thing is, it's still going to experience some high frequency vibrations, it doesn't 100% eliminate it. For peace of mind, I'd prefer not to mount and keep phone in pocket.

You can get Sena replacement mount kits pretty cheap, Cardo doesn't have a similar option?
I’ve only got experience with Sena, but it’s just double-sided tape to mount the unit to the side of the helmet, and adhesive-backed velcro to attach the speakers to the ear pockets. Oh, they are special shapes, big whoop. Just do it already, quit wasting riding time.
Edit: if you wanted the official Cardo double sided tape, it’s $18 https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p...eecom-series-p
