Ok... so tonight i got a ticket.... In NASHUA, NH.
i was "clocked". firstly. Not by Radar, not by aircraft, not by laser... nothing... just "clocked".
clocked at 60mph at the corner of Cotton and Amherst st.... (McDonalds).
Officer pulled up 1.5miles after i left McDees... asked for license/Reg... i asked what i was being pulled over for... Officer asked why i thought... again i ask "why am i being pulled over?".
officer says " How fast do you think you were going?"
i ask... "How fast was i going?"
Officer "I had to do 50mph to catch up to you"
I say nothing... hand over my license, Reg... say nothing else...
Officer comes back 10 mins later w/ this ticket that says i owe 100$ for him "Clocking" me. i ask him what it means... he said it means i owe 100$.
What a jerk....
How do you think i fight this? Is this a dissmissal in court?
I was driving my 1998 corvette with a LOUD exhaust... which is prob why he pulled me over... And in all honesty, i wasn't doing more than 50 in the 40 zone.... it was 2 in the morning!!!!!!!!!
Any lawyers on this site?!?!?! I'll pay 100$ to have the Rep me, i'll go in with yoU! just to not have it on my record!
Any suggestions?!
Cliff notes... i leave mcdonalds... a mile and a half later, i come to a stop sign, and see blue lights in the distance behind me.... i pull over to let em by... they stop behind me?!?! I get a 100$ ticket for doing 60mph at the intersection of Mcdonalds that i had just left~?!?!
I was "clocked".
HELP!!!!!!!!!
My car and license are Registered in RI and i'm BROKE AS A JOKE in COLLEGE!!!!! i HONESTLY wasn't speeding!!!!!!!!!!! Had a passenger with me, who typed and signed a sworn statement of the night tonight as well!
I even have my sales receipt from Mcdonalds... 3 Cotton Ave at 2:42am (printed on receipt)
Payed with my credit card.
and the ticket's issued at 2:47am a mile and a half down the road... "Clocked" at the corner of Amherst and Cotton. (McDonalds address)
How was i clocked doing 60mph at McDonalds, while it took him a mile and a half to catch up to me doing "50mph" ?!?!?!
Do I win this case?!?!?!

50 is still faster than 40, your were speeding, clocking is a perfectly acceptable way for a LEO to determine your speed, how do you think they did it before the invention of radar, old methods don't go away, they are just enhanced with the addition of new technologies , with the advent of laser they didn't elimiate radar
even if you weren't technicly speeding, they can get you for too fast for conditions, at night, in an intersection, winter, potential slippery conditions, are there high snowbanks too?

ticket says:
Pavement... X Dry, _ Wet, _ Ice, _ Snow
Traffic.... X Light, _ Medium, _ Heavy, _ Accident resulting
Weather.... _ Rain, _ Snow, _ Ice, _ Fog, X Clear, _ Cloudy
So, too fast for conditions??? I Still think not... I dont believe snowbanks had anything to do with it...

I use the arguement of "of course you had to do 50 to catch me I was ahead of you." If you were doing 60 how could he catch you doing 50?
You suck at life. Why don't you quit?

YOu can not afford a lawyer....starts at 700
Go to court....
1st chance LEO no show your off,,,if local probably not.
2nd tell judge whole story including that 1 you left the Mc Donalds so you were not proceeding through the intersection.
3rd Did the LEO loose sight of you and is there a possibility that the officer made an honest mistake in identifying who he saw.
You have at least an even chance of getting some dollars off.... Tell them the vette was a present from Dad and you know it attracts attention but you didn't select it.

sounds like he gave you a break, 20 over is normally more than $100. you don't think snowbanks had anything to do with it? traffic appears from behind them with no warning, they also melt down then refreeze as black ice in the middle of the night, slow to fuck down
you got studded winter tires on that vette

Was pulled over on the bike in middleton NH a few years ago. Similar questions and knew I wasn't doing anywhere near what he said. He also stated he had to do 70 to 80 mph just to catch up to me on this "2 lane, no shouldered, unlined 30 mph" road. In NH you are permitted to cross question the officer and I proved his story bunk. I even went as far as to tell the judge and states prosecuting attorney the officer is an out and out liar. Write EVERYTHING down so as to not forget and fight it. My issuing officer stated on the stand it "appeared as though" I was speeding with no way to prove it. FIGHT IT! Not for the sake of the money but for the principal. I won't even say good luck. I don't think there is even a case looking at it from my experience.

I thought they had to follow you for a certain distance along with match your speed in their car to be able "clock" you? Shouldn't he have been given a ticket that said "estimated" not "clocked"?

Not in NH, its based on the actual speed, not the MPH over... so in other words, the ticket for 70 in a 55 is the same $$ as 70 in a 45.
I got a ticket 5 years ago for the same thing, the cop saw my radar detector, paced me and wrote it for what he had to do to keep pace with me. I plead not guilty and when I got to the court house, they offered a suspended fine. Course I was 16 and had a lead foot, so I got another ticket 3 months later, had to pay both and lost my license for 180 days. yay!

if he had to do 50mph to catch up to you, wouldn't it be logically sound that you were going slower than 50mph, provided your speed was constant...?

Some of you are right... There's no way he clocked me... because i was stopped at a stop sign, and saw police lights a few hundred yards behind me flying up towards me. So i just chilled, expecting them to drive by.
I honestly wasn't speeding... i was eating my Chicken Sandwich!!!!!!!!!
And yea, so what if i endulge myself and all my life savings on school loans, nice cars, and my badass bike??? I live life... who needs money in the pocket?
If your willing to pay a lwayer $100 why not just pay the $100 ticket? What if you bring a lawyer to court and loose then you'd be paying $200. $100 for the ticket and $100 for your cheap ass lawyer.![]()
Where do you get this? The last time I got a ticket in NH for speeding, probably 6 years ago, they gave me a table that had all of the fines for traffic violations on it and all speeding fines were based on MPH over the posted limit. I find it a little hard to believe that any state would give the same ticket for doing 75 in a 65 on the highway as they would for doing 75 in a 25 on a back road. Do you have any proof to back that up?

dunno how it works in NH, but in MA, the minimum for a speeding ticket is $100 (anything up to 10 over).
obviously it depends on a specific person's situation, but 2 points for a minor moving violation (speeding) will end up costing between 1k and 2.5k over the next few years in increased insurance premiums. so between $1100 and $2600 -- that's a pretty healthy chunk of change.

I'd rather pay a lawyer, so it's not on my record, than just paying the ticket, and incuring all residual after costs
Once you're over double the speed limit its a "Must appear" and yes, they break it down by amount over in a such and such zone on the fee schedule, but if you look at the dollar values, the fine for doing 20 over in a 65 is enough more than the fine for doing 20 over in a 55 to make the fines the same for 20 over in a 65 the same fine as for 30 over in a 55.

1st ticket? Your insurance shouldn't be affected.
I am not one to believe that police are out to "get people". I believe if they see you doing something wrong they tag you.
Something caught the cops eye. Maybe it was the Vette, the way you drove it, the time of night and area you were in, the neon kit on it...??? I don't know.
Best bet as in ANY situation with a police officer, be polite and courteous, accept responsiablity, apologize and maybe he will give you a warning.
It has worked more than a few times for me. All the other times I went to court just so I could save up the money to pay the fine and hope to get it reduced a little by showing the same remorse to the court.
They are not all out to get you and make up tickets for their amusement.
