yeah haha sorry about that. but it is a 1991 suzuki rm 125.
That thing is an antique, that is way to much money for an old problem MXer.
so if it is over priced because of the year and the problem that it doesnt run what should i try and pay for it?
i was just informed that he has some new parts to it and thats why he wants 500 for it. im not sure what new parts tho. does this change anything?
$500 for a non-running 1991 MX bike?
No.
A buddy of mine is worried that he won't be able to get much more than that for his slightly newer KTM 300 that actually runs, has great suspension, and is in pretty good shape overall.
Personally I wouldn't even bother with that bike. Just keep an eye on Craigslist and you'll find plenty of good deals on dirtbikes.

It's still a 21 year old dirt bike. If it ran perfect I wouldn't give you $500 for it. What do you want to do with it, bomb around the neighborhood with it?
a 91 RM that won't start? Ain't worth fuckin' dime. A 20 year old RM that's in mint condition isn't worth $500. He should thank you for getting the hell outta his basement...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
well i bought one from craigslist alread for $200 it is a 2006 lifan 100cc and it needed a little bit of work mostly just a new carboator and air filter.
but the point is we wanna buy another one (me and my dad) so we can ride together. not on trials or anything just little places like the woods and motly in like a back yard type area.
so what should i do?
and thanks for all the help guys. i appreciate it alot.
I still don't think it's worth much of anything. 2 strokes can be a nightmare especially if you don't know the history of it. What you think is a piston issue is going to turn into a bottom end issue, then cylinder issue then trans issue.
okay well thank you guys especially GearHd6 you helped alot imma talk to my dad about it later when he gets out of work.
thanks everyone! (:
Is the bike mint other than the starting issue? If it's mint, maybe it had a good life and it's not starting because of a gummed up carb. If it's a basket case with all beat plastics and what not, I'd give up.
go find another bike...dont force the issue with this one.

im accually not intirely sure. i just know that it doesnt start and that theres something wrong with the piston i believe (it is the piston)
but like i said if i could get it for cheaper just so me and my dad can ride in a backyard type are. would it be good for that?

If it's just the piston and a hone then sould be pretty cheap to get it fixed. Anything more than that (like a crank) then your better off parting it out. Honestly without looking it's worth about $50-200 bucks not running. Running that bike should fetch, I'm guessing, between $500-900 bucks. I for one never had any luck with those older Suzukis, always had better luck with Honda and would rather shit on a Kawi than ride one.
I have an 83 CR60R in mint condition, what do you think that's worth?![]()

A 2 stroke 125 MX bike is not a great bike for bashing around in the woods or around the yard. It is a very pipey bike that likes to be up high in the revs. In order to do that there is a lot of clutch slipping involved. If it's lugged around it's basically useless, and rough on spark plugs. A 2 stroke 250 MX bike is better for woods riding but still not optimum. Find yourself a nice XR or something along those line.
if its a piston problem, it will cost alot more money to fix, you have to get the piston fixed in order for it to run....for $500.00 you can find an older mx that is running.

already lol. thanks everyone. especially you GearHd6 (aka Jeff) i believe haha.
Bheavish, paging Bheavish to the white courtesy phone!
He bought a cheap old RM, then spent bucket loads of money trying to get it to run, and it's still a nightmare since. Hard to get parts for, and you'll NEVER get any money back out of it.
BTW, I speak from personal experience too, 92 Yamaha WR250. In my case it was slightly less of a fiasco as Yamaha likes to parts bin machines for years making shopping eBay easier... but still not one of my wiser purchases.
OP....keep an eye out on the for sale thread on here kid, somebody might sell you one for cheap.

okay thanks j4eric lol.
Ive got a 91 woods beater rm125 and love it. Im always in the state forest with it.
Its also not worth much. My bike is in decent shape with everything working and its only worthabout 700 tops. For $500 bucks you should be able to get a decent running older 2t bike off craiglist. Make sure you get one that doesnt need much, prices add up quick. Just tires are a few hundred.
For a non-running 91 id toss him maybe $100 bucks. It can be hard to find parts for those bikes if needed. The motor are also a pain to work on if you get into the lowerend.
The key to decent old dirty bikes is to have them running in the first place. If you can ride it for a few months without putting money into it they can be worth it. Id rather have my old beater that has never given me an issue than a newer one. The bike owes me nothing so if it dies it dies. Im not out alot of money.
Here you go.
