I realy need help
, when i turn the key the fuel pump doesnt kick on . Im pretty shore there is no power to the relay. even though im an electrician, the scamatics are a little confusing . I realy dont want to take it to a dealership and get raped with a large bill. and i realy want to ride to the races sat. If anyone can help, i will greatly appreciate it , and i dont exspect it to be a free bee either.
Check the fuses first. Does the RC51 have a tipover sensor?

fuses good, and yes it has a flip sensor, I didnt mention the full pump some times will kick on if i turn the key about 30 times, but now nothing no matter how many times, its seemed like its progressed over time. It started about three weeks ago , ive been on a few long rides sence then, and almost every time i stopped for gas , the fuel pump wouldnt turn on right away.
The bike would just die while running. The first couple of times it started again after waiting a few minutes, so there might be a thermal factor. The 3rd or 4th time, no go. If this is just happening when you're starting the bike, I don't think it's the tip-over sensor. I'd look at the ignition switch and fuel cut relay.
The fuel cut relay is under the passenger seat. It should click when you turn the key. If you have the service manual, check page 5-52 and 5-53 for testing the fuel cut and bank angle sensor relays. The test also checks the ignition switch.

Thankyou , ya the bike never just cuts out when riding, the fuel cut realy does click when the pump works, but doesnt when the pump doesnt work , i took the other relay next to it , i think its the blinker relay , its the same . that definitly is running right , and pluged it in and got nothing ,
The blinker relay is a 3-pole. The fuel cut-off relay is 4-pole. I'm not sure, but you might have swapped the bank angle relay with the fuel cutoff relay. Those are both 4-pole relays. If either of these relays is disconnected, the bike won't start. If they're swapped, at best you just moved the bad relay to another place that will keep the bike from starting.
I've only looked at the schematic, not the relays, but it looks like the pinouts might be different. Swapping relays might cause big problems if they aren't identical.
One old trick for intermittent relays is a couple of whacks with a screwdriver handle. If there's crud on the contacts, this might help - temporarily. But you didn't get that advice from me.
This could be all wrong because it's hard to diagnose via e-mail and I'm not a mechanic. But I'm decent at electrics and if the pump won't run, the culprit shouldn't be too hard to find.

The fuel pump will have 12V to ground on both wires to it until the ecu is satisfied that all systems are operative (all sensors etc). Then it will drop one wire to gnd to give you 12V across the pump. That's how it works. Number 1 culprit on rc51s for no pump run is the power commander. Make sure the power commander is grounded directly to the battery -ve terminal. Do you have a check light? If the ecu is not happy you will have a code for what sensor is bad (mass air flow, air temp, tps, etc). Also open fuel tank to check for vapor lock (whooshing sound) which will lock up the pump also.
I haven't read all of the responses but it sounds like the ignition switch, just my guess but it def sounds electrical, not that the pump is bad but somwhere in between. Like i said i havent read all the post maybe this has been ruled out
I had a similar issue with my RR. It ended up being one wire in my service plug connector (it's sorta like a ground box, i have a picture of it in my NESR gallery) I wouldn't know where to start looking on your bike, but an easy thing to do is pull apart the connectors and look for a fouled pin... which is also a good time to get a bottle of di-electric grease and get some in every connector. I looked at EVERYTHING and it all looked great. this thing was electric taped up under the seat and before I checked it i was saying to myself no way this is going to be the issue but I figured I'd rule it out anyway and it ended up being the culprit
Are there any other things going on except the fuel pump not working. when mine was messed up the headlight and the blinkers wouldn't work either.

I ordered a relay , I looked everywere for one , It should be here by friday, I found the problem by testing the harness end for 12 volts , and it did, I then took blinker relay which is the same and swapped them out and the pump turned on , I then switched them back and the pump didnt work, so I disided it is the culprit, Thanks everyone for the advice and when i receive the relay I will let everyone how it turns out.
do you type with your right foot or your left?
good luck let us know
