Hey everyone... Need help

First of all sorry ive been gone,, I got rid of the Gixxer but got 3k for it..lol
just picked up a 98 ninja zx7r,,, sat for 3yrs.. dont frickin run,, well before i bought it, it kinda ran took forever..
so heres the scoop

1/2plugs clean and smell like fuel but not soaked
3/4plugs oil fouled bad!!!!!
spark across the board.. compression is good.. only has 7600miles
new fuel,, cleaned the bowls and float needles
someone please please help
i get an occasional blub blub,, stall

Hows your battery? Is there a fuel shutoff valve? Ever crashed? If so is there a fuel cutoff tilt sensor usually in the tailsection. Fuses good. Is the killswitch on the handlebars in the run position?

A sticky float or two? Float height checked across the board? Clean your pilot jets?

pilots done. float level unkown, but not sticky,, should be ok, its all stock..

Sounds like you've flooded it quite badly. I'd pull the plugs, turn the motor several times, then let the cylinders dry out. Have you thought about bad/wet gas?

been there done that,, cleared cylinders, plugs cleaned, fresh 91 octane.
it seems to be getting worse and worse, now doesnt even wanna spark, even though it has spark,, im so tweaked, wish i had bought another gixxer

do you know anything about it's history? Coils/stator? Lemme know if you want to bag it and start looking for another gixxer, I love 7Rs.

that's not a carb clean...usually carbs get dipped in solution, metal parts only, remove all plastic and rubber o rings. you need to all the way including sync

as for the spark: it either has it or not... you said the battery was fresh but now run down? (check) weak batteries might give on/off spark make sure the battery is fully charged

gas tank needs to be flushed and the petcock, fuel screen need a good clean out as well.

was it running ok when put away?

From what I've seen the bike has great spark and the battery is fine. The guy lives up the road from me that Viper bought it from and I believe he parked it due to having a child more than anything not becasue it crapped out. I know mine was a PITA to start every spring after sitting over the winter even though it was stored in a heated garage. I know were just missing something stupid.

If she seems strong back to the carbs. I assume all jets removed sprayed and blown and replaced.... dribbler/choke non functional ?

Sometimes the rings could be glued in the ring grooves and ass such there be very low compression. A compression check will show you motor health.

^ rich is right... use this method to test the carbs, "starter spray" can really F up an engine. if it does run on spray your looking at a total teardown of the carbs.

backfire was unburned fuel. Once the problem is sorted backfire goes away.

Well I'm happy to report that VIPERSRT1 and myself both have the ZX7R's running great. After a total tear down of the carbs on his and fixing a sticky float his is up and running great. And after some small tweaks to mine it's running like a champ once again.
