After some research, I stand corrected. No HID is legal in a halogen designed housing.
That being said.. I could care less. 1. Cops doubtfully would give you a hard time when your talking about increased safety (for you). 2. If you do get a ticket you throw the old bulb in for a day and get the ticket thrown out.
I purchased them, will keep you all updated as to how it works/looks…
The good think about HID is they have much less draw once fired up. Lots of draw initially though.
As will all head lights they need to be adjusted to ensure proper aim.. Not a hard thing to do..
High Intensity Discharge (H.I.D.) is a type of lighting technology that replaces the filament of the light bulb with Xenon gas. The gas is ignited to produce an arc of light, when high voltage is applied. The amount of light output is three times that of a standard halogen bulb. The lamps also glow at a higher light temperature (closer to natural sunlight) that gives it its distinct color and appearance.
let me know what you used, how the install went, and the cost. i'm very interested in getting a 6k set for myself. as far are the law of HID on halogen designed headlights, i'd rather feel safe than legal. if the roads werent so banged up with potholes, i wouldnt be concerned so much about needing extra night visability
I just set up my buddie's 04 R6 with a set. You need to put an extra switch to turn them on AFTER the bike starts. When you start his bike, the headlight doesn't turn on until the bike is actually running. Having the HIDs using the stock harness, after you start the bike, it is too much draw and causes the bike to stall and then run like s*&t for a while. I put the switch in so he can turn on the lights after the bike is running and idling. I haven't heard of this happening on any other model, but R6's beware of the extra step.
BTW, I have Audi A8 projectors in my headlight, so it is a true HID projector.

After
Keep in mind the two of the 'after' pics were taken with the garage lights off. I went with 4300k lights from XenonDepot. I got the same kit as BadBoyBilly and his crapped out on him. Mine are still working *knock on wood*.
Yea mine shit the bed after a couple months. I put my silverstar back in and i'll just live with that.
Motorcycle Xenon HID Conversion Kits - Motorcycle Lighting Upgrade!
$235 for bi-xenon and $200 for regular. I forget what I paid. I guess around 200.
These kits come with the Plilips bulbs, which most people agree are better.
