Time for a new prescription. I've been generally pretty happy with my Percocets...

You just described what he was talking about, "Handling a sensitive piece of wood"

So your adding to the pain?

Saw the bike at the shop today. That was some quality work there. Looks like I have a project ahead of me getting that thing back together.

It appears that under hard braking the cross overbrake line was wearing on the front tire. I came down the front straight full bore. Stabbed the front brakes at the 2 marker and the lever hit the bar. The line ruptured under pressure. I tried to Jack on the back brake to low side it and the ass swung out and instead of laying down. The bike threw me. Bing bang boom..... The end result. Me laying on my couch In god aweful pain with a busted collar bone a fucked up ankle and a body full o' bruisin'. Mechanical failure is a bitch.

Just a word of advice, next time try grabbing a shitload of down shifts as you stab the rear brake. I know there was alot going on when the fronts failed but downshifting possibly could have helped.

I'm Pretty sure it was too late at the point he was braking(Attempting to brake that is) ! This corner was a very late apex where your turning in as your on the edge of the tarmac and next to the grass. Downshifting may have helped the very tiniest bit if there was more time.. That 1 second of realizing of "fuck I have no front brakes" was all the time he had to begin with!

Ya as he said he didn't reach for the brakes until the second brake marker which is already pretty deep to be braking imo but then again i am no where near a pro when it comes to track riding but i know i was braking a little before the first brake marker and was having a difficult time getting to a low enough speed for this corner, for how fast he was going and the amount of time he had he did everything he could and ended up relatively lucky

    Re: My first highside..... :-(

I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Doc touching / owning the bike previously....

But it's a lesson to be learned. I was following a guy in the Advanced group on a black 636 with Yellow plates (no #'s) who was absolutely DEEP AS HELL on the brakes. I mean, literally carrying wicked speed into the corners and braking at the last possible minute. Sure... he passed a shit ton of guys, but every other corner he ran deep into, and in one session I counted 6 times where he almost hit someone else (he'd also go in, brake, and then swoop to the OUTSIDE before turning in). We pulled off together and he was laughing thinking we'd had a nice dice session, until he realized I was about to rip him a new one. It's a TRACK DAY peeps. Lesson: why the hell do you need to brake at the latest possible moment? Brake early and progressively and work on your lines... not pushing back your brake markers.

    Rich, blame Doc

Obviously I didn't see it but figured if there was enough time to think about rear brakes maybe some shifting could have occurred.

As I said, I realize alot was going on in a very short amount of time. Using the transmission to slow a bike is going to be a bit more forgiving than the rear brake.

Not dogging on Rich in any way whatsoever, just posting advice based on my experiences. But what happened, happened and above all I'm glad to see that big lug of a man posting in relatively good sprits, all things considered.
