HMF Exhaust

    HMF Exhaust

No i'm not talking about the Head Muth F-er in charge. I'm talking about these guys: http://hmfracing.com/street

Good? Bad? Looking at the carbon/kevlar cans for the 848 possibly. Construction looks good from pictures, they are made here in the good ole US, and the prices are really decent compared to other options. But I can't find much on them on the ducati boards.

Just looking for reviews on quality, company support, etc....

    Re: HMF Exhaust

I know for offroad, their quality is awesome. I put a black chrome HMF slip-on on my Raptor when I got back in 2005, the finish is still new looking.

Odd, I was just looking for one for my 450R a little while ago, seems now they have a EFI programmer to go with their exhaust systems

I have heard HMF pipes on another bike.. maybe a GSXR it sounded good. Looked like it was built well and made in USA!

    Re: HMF Exhaust

If I can find a good set of USED termi's at a reasonable price, I will go for it.

I can't justify spending 1/3 the cost of my bike ($3000+) for a sull set or $1700 for slip-ons from Termi, even though I would like them.

I'll be honest and say that I want something a little throatier and louder than the stock 1098s cans that I put on it. I want something thats well built and fits my price range. I've looked at Arrows, Akra's, FMF, Two Bros, and lots of others. I actually liked the HMF in Carbon/Kevlar with black end caps.

Somehow they can manufacture their pipe for substantially less than all the others which is why I was asking. If you want to drop the coin for me so I don't have to put "trash" on my bike, the by all means, I'll PM you my address. But, civil servants like myself don't make gobs of money and i'm looking at what's available to me.

Just wondering why you were looking for HMF for a duc, never heard of that combo before. The only other pipes I've seen on ducatis is Arrow for some reason. When you do get them post a vid of the sound, I'm curious what they would sound like

    Re: HMF Exhaust

Man you weren't kidding when you were telling me about prices. $3272 for a full system for the 1198s and that's for stainless pipes, I guess I'd now be scared to see that setup in Ti. At least the slippons come with an air filter and what not. I was reading a post that claimed the stock Ducati head pipes are pretty good and that a full system would save some weight but not add much for power compared to the slips.

$1633 for dual carbon cans and the filter / ECU for the 848. http://store.proitalia.com/96118308b.html

Have you checked into Leo Vince?

Maybe you could have some custom cans made up, David / 7.62 had someone do that for his SV.

Or if you want I could get the number for a guy in NH who builds custom exhaust for Ducs. I've seen his work on a custom built Duc track rat...full system and it's really nice. Carbon cans, straight through baffles. You might be able to get a full system for a lot less than 3200. I've never talked to him though, so I'm not 100%. But if you want his # let me know, might be worth it to give him a call and talk to him.

Edit....you have the 1198 cans, bet he can take both ends and replace the aluminum? with carbon cans and straight through baffles. That would probably be the cheapest route

I've removed the cats from the 1098s cans that I have right now. I toyed around with the idea of gutting the baffles, putting in a piece of perferated SS pipe and packing but i decided against it. I want it to look good and I don't know that I could do that good of a job hacking it all together. That and I really like CF.

    Re: HMF Exhaust

i currently run an HMF 4-2 full exhaust setup on my 97 v max. went to this after we jetted the carbs stage 7. the only other pipes i've liked the sound of better is the 2 bro's setup i have on my 89 max, which are no longer available! the HMF's make the bike sound like a small block 350 just waitin to pounce off the line.

I have Two Brothers carbon with power tips on my 1098.
Sound is greatly improved over stock.
I'll try to load a video today.
Good pricing and I may even sell you mine if you want them.

hmmm... I'm interested in the Two Bros pipes. It would be a bit before I will be in a position to make the purchase though, but I'm willing to look into it.
