    Talking I did it!

I passed my MSF BRC course.

It was a long day yesterday (7am-6pm) on the range, but I made it through.

The classroom portion was easy (5 hours on Sunday).

    Written: 100%
Riding: 82% (I still feel sorta shitty for the score, b/c I know I can do better -- lesson learned for the day, after 10 hours of riding, the eval test is not fun to take)

I'd write something long winded, but who really cares? And if you do, you can ask.

I passed, and that's what really matters, right? Now to find me a bike!

Sure thing... just gotta buy a bike.

I picked the perfect time to start riding Just in time to put it into storage...

Actually, hopefully, I'll pick one up soon. Get to practice some of those manuveurs that make me a top-notch parking lot driver (haha), and then hopefully get out on the street a few times before I put it away.

Dude, get some decent gear, layer up the clothing, and ride till the snow flies. I started riding at the beginning of March this year. Its not that bad.

No doubt - I was taking those weaves and turns fast... I got frustrated with one guy that was going really slow ... so on the straights, I would slow down and wait just so I could gun around the corners and weaves. Of course, I couldn't tell how fast I was going (speedo was broken)... but I'm guessing at the blindingly fast 15 mph

It matters more that you learned how to ride well and hopefully safely so you will survive. Passing the test is frosting on the cake. Congrats.

Ha! That's what the Coaches said!

    "What did we learn today?"

"It doesn't matter if you pass the test, that's just frosting on the cake. What's important are the skills you learned today."

There's at least a month left of good riding (keeping in mind this is going to be a long cold winter, according to predictions). Ride til snow flies. You should be takign your first couple months easy anyway, so the colder pavement shouldn't bee too much of an issue.

Yes you got the rest of Sept, all of Oct, and probably half of Nov. Then the snow will start coming down which equals sand/salt all over the roads. After the first snow, my bike goes into hybernation.

On the advice of the folks here...

Ninja 500 or GS500... or an older (early 90's) 600.

Well... I was surprised (well, not really) when one of the guys in class said he was looking at the CBR600F4i... he ended up with the Kawa Ninja ZX-6RR or something. Bought it brand new last week. I said something about buying used because I'd probably drop it, and he said something to the effect of, that's what I thought at first, but since I am probably going to drop it anyway, why not just buy it new?

Do I think there are nicer bikes out there? Sure. Do I want one of those fancy bikes? Sure. But I'd rather be able to ride, and if the EX or GS 500 gets me there, I'm willing to wait it out.
