Oh, shit NOW I get it.... sure it took me 35 years.... I never knew about the race, just thought Honda named the Elsinores after a town where folks liked to ride you know how Blaupunkt does that crap. The Reno, the Berlin (gooseneck) etc. etc....

Question is, how did that bunny rabbit side car get through that mud bog?

That was awesome! The commentator sounded like Bruce Brown, who did 'The Endless Summer.'
Just looked it up, and sure enough, Bruce Brown directed 'On Any Sunday.' Steve McQueen co-produced it.
Chilly-assed Steve McQueen....

I touched his old 911 once, the owner was so cool. I guessed the year almost right and he just smiles and says "It was owned by Steve McQueen."

Lake Elsinore is like 30 min from my house, and the route to get there is the infamous Ortega Highway. Even more cool is I met Bob Brown at a Troy Lee event out here back in December and got signed copies of "On Any Sunday" for me and my dadHe was super rad to talk to, guy has seen alot in his day!! I didn't know the Elsinore Grand Prix still runs though, I may have to check that out: http://www.stormentertainmentonline.com/grandprix.html

Wowwww! That pic brings back some really fun memories. Back in middle school my friends father got ahold of 2 elsinores. Way heavier than us but we beat the shit out of ourselves and those bikes on the power lines. Fuckin beaver dams kicked our asses. Thanks. I'm only 37 yrs old but even for me this bike makes me smile. Now I gotta send this pic to my compatriot of trouble.

Yah I was only 10 when they were big so I never rode one and the guys I knew that had them "moved up" to the RM 125 and YZ 125s I did get to ride those when I was 15-16 it was pretty scary coming up from a YZ 80 to that, even though the seat height was NOTHING like it is today. And they had those big, bushy seats remember those???? I had a poster of an Elsinore 125 on my wall for years. Do you remember the SL 70? Slow as hell but a great looking, fun little bike, went head to head with the GT80 Yamaha. We hotwired my friend's big brother's SL 70 24/7 just a little connector under the tank hahahahaaa....
