Is anyone here going? Besides Savvas, of course!
I'm trying to see if I can take the time off work to go and check it out. The two obstacles are where to stay (Airbnb?) and how to get to the Island itself. I'm not sure if I'd take the ferry (presumably from Ireland) or fly (ditto).
Our own burtonboarder23 went a couple of years ago too.

I mighy be going if my work schedule flex's a bit. I will be in the area working at the very least.
At this point your chances of finding lodging are slim and expensive. I would plan on camping out. I would also probably take the ferry from the uk over too. Its not that bad.

Ya your really pushing it trying to do it this close to start. The ferry is doable but you need to be there in person to make it work. Online is useless at this point.
I hate to say it but its probably too late to do it now with any sort of solid plan. You would be winging it the entire time hoping to get a break at every hurdle. I have a house not very far from there and it would be hard for me to go now. I would just drive out to the ferry and put myself on standby. Taking the car over is never gonna happen so i would just walk on and walk off. I know from last year camping is tough to find now too and airbnb has so many scammers in the uk to make it a viable choice.
I wish i could say we went. After looking at all the travel to and from the Island, it would have made it extremely rushed to get up to the northern part of Scotland to see family on Isle of Lewis. I can see if i can find my notes on flights etc but if i remember, flying was the quickest way off the island as the ferries were packed and it could take a day or two before you were able to get on one. I know we are looking into a week away in the next couple of years to get to the TT since we missed it last time due to it being our first time going to Scotland and not wanting to cut anything else out.
"Could you elaborate on that a bit? Just telling me not to run a specific tire, and giving me no true logical explanation is like telling me I'm going to get my dick sucked tonight, and not by whom."
Taking the ferry is straight silly if you ask me.
Flying is the way to go. No rushing around to catch ferries and your luggage (theory) stay with you.
Hotels are probably booked. Home stay could work only last minute cancelation at this point.
I'm going.. it will be more like work than a vacation but well worth it to keep Sav. safe!

What's is glb? I just exchanged some cash and got 1.30usd to 1 gpb at natwest. When your over here you really got to be careful where you do the exchanges. A lot of times your better off using a cc to make purchases. Some of them hold off on the conversion until rates are more favorable automatically.

Wow, you're getting shafted. I show $1.31 to the British Pound Sterling?

I live in the uk. I just walked into the bank and exchanged it. I do it all the time as I get paid in us and gbp. Depending on how I want my money to work I can change it.
Any bank should offer you close to my rates without issue but it would most likely be for smaller amounts. Thousands of dollars would be odd for them. They have all these wacky know your customer laws that come into effect then. It's a nightmare to deal with if your not a uk citizen with large amounts of time available to show your character and proof of living.
You can also use your atm to just get cash without dealing with fees. Tdbank doesn't charge conversion or foreign atm fees and natwest doesn't charge to use uk arms. It's the best way. If you use Lloyds or HSBC you will be in hammered with fees.
off to see the Manx, the wonderful men of Manx. I'll fly and fly and fly to the wonderful place it is. I'm off to see the Savas the wonderful racer he is.
