Ice Riding in Kingston issue... maybe?

    https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ANRxGwpWx/

Saw this thread on the Kinston NH group. I know a bunch of you guys ride ice, don't know if it's this area but just a heads up to be careful. Looks like they got an old school turf war going on. The comments have pics but read at your own demise. It's filled with cunty assholes. To be fair, it is Southern NH so that is par for the course.

Those were likely ice fishing holes drilled using a hand auger.

This is a BIG part of why I don't do it anymore on our lake. First, you'd have the cross country skiers using the track and claiming they had every right to do so even if there were 10 of us out there ready to tear it up. What the fuck good is ice to cross country skiers???

Then you'd have the other assholes that would drill a bunch of ice fishing holes around the entire track. Then they'd hide behind the old "you can't legally prevent me from ice fishing" bullshit. Again, even if there were a bunch of us out there ready to ride.

Fuckin' people had the entire lake, plus another across the road. Nope, they'd be bitches and try to ruin our fun.

there were a couple guys from here that were riding up in the Littleton NH area and got physically assaulted by some asshole. There was GoPro footage and I believe criminal charges brought against the assaulter. People are fucked.

Are you racing or just riding? I try to spectate some ice races a few times a year.

I'm thinking about bringing out quad to Maine now that we're on the water. Waiting to see what people are doing out there. Seen: bicycles, cross-country skiers and quads / snowmobiles dragging ice fishing equipment.

The comments in that post are painful.

We had an issue last year on our ponds, and all said and done we were 100% legal, and one of the other land owners ended up with a wetlands violation. We have 2 ponds, both private and both partially owned by other land owners. On a Saturday morning, a woman called the police saying we were riding on her pond and she wanted us off. Police showed up, told him I owned half the pond and he agreed that by law, I have access to the entire pond. He told the lady how the law works, and we continued riding.
Later in the day, my nephew and I went out again on the second pond and had a nice 2 hour ride with a cool layout. I did not know at the time, but apparently the lady that called the police earlier, didn’t like the answer the police officer gave her, so she decided to contact the 3rd land owner, the president of the neighboring gun club (we own half of their pond also) to try and put a stop to the riding. The gun club went in that night and released all the water from that shared pond, leaving a 20 acre 16” thick slab of ice laying on the uneven pond bottom. At first I was surprised the next morning, but it ended up being our best ice riding day of the season. There were jumps, banked corners, whoops, flat sections… basically an MX track on ice. We rode until the sunset.
Next day, I come home from work and the environmental police were sitting in my driveway. They asked who I was and what happened over the weekend. I explained in detail about the police encounter on Saturday, and the draining of the pond by Sunday morning.
The woman that called the police Saturday on us, then the gun club president that evening, was unhappy that we still rode on Sunday and filed a wetlands complaint with the Department of Environmental Management first thing Monday morning.
The DEM officer noted a major violation by the gun club for draining of wetlands. It was their second violation for them for draining the pond completely. They are only allowed to drain 20% of the water at the beginning of each winter.

Let’s see what this winter brings.. lol

So other than emptying the pond how is the gun club as a neighbor?? If I recall, you cut some type of deal with them when you bought the place, I would have thought that would put them on "your side"... And I can't imagine "KAREN" is thrilled with the sounds of the gun club.

Just curious why it seems they "turned" on you by emptying the pond, and if there is anything you can legally do to screw them / make them compensate you for your "loss" as a partial owner of the 2nd pond?? In addition to the DEM fines.... I'm very vindictive when I get screwed over...

We own the inlet portion, they own the outlet portion. It is a man made pond with a simple dam where they slide boards in and out to control the water height. The early winter draining of 20% is part of a weed/milfoil control plan.

It was super fun, still can’t believe the banked turns and jumps.

The gun club is a decent neighbor for the most part. I’ve only had an issue with bird season, and the hunting dogs chasing birds and other wildlife into our yard.. with the hunters in tow.
I’m not sure why they sided with the lady over the pond situation… small town, big politics is my only guess.. lol

For all I know, it could have been the lady that was responsible for draining the water, or getting another neighbor to do it. The only details I know, are what the environmental officer told me. I agree, it makes no sense they would do it a second time.

For the record, I haven’t had any issues with either neighbor since this incident last winter.

We never cut a deal with them. An option the closing attorney suggested was to gift the club the 5 acres of land involving the hunting lease, in exchange for removing the lease from our deed. It was only going to be an option if it held up the bank financing. It ended up not being an issue.

Either way, I'll be happy to come down with 20lbs. of tannerite. A couple big booms just about nightfall oughta get her panties in a bunch.
