what i think you mean is...youll never use all that power

The main difference between the 06/07 and the 08+ its the electronics and throttle bodies. It gives you more meat lower in the rpms. I know on my R6 its doesnt come alive until its above 10k. I dont think its very realistic to ride it like that on the street. It was hard enough to learn how to ride it on the track. At least there I can keep it wound up.

I believe another notable difference was the 08+ got bigger bearings.

You only want something in the 600 cc range? I rode my friends gsxr 600 and it's more comfortable then the R6. The Gxsr was a 08 and the R6 was a 08 or 09. Just throwing in another option.

I've ridden a 675 and loved it. I thought the riding position wasn't uncomfortable, I did about two hours on it and had a lot of fun. That was when I was 50 pounds fatter too, I'm sure it'll be even better without the guy getting jabbed by the tank.

o ya, my 675 has had way less issues then most guys i have ridden with on other makes, pullet proof!

it always seems like, people like what they ride and everything else sucks. Go with what you like..... good luck

I am sure all bikes are great and they all blow up some times. depends on how you take care of them

Are the 06 R6s prone to bearing failure? Did you ever figure out why your kept blowing up? I'm debating picking up an 06. I'm OK with the 10k starting point, as long as the motor hold together...

From what pk told me...you just cant let them idle. The bearings get starved of oil at idle.

Some had a problem with spinning the bearings. It was typically at a low mileage point. I recall reading somewhere one did it within 600 miles.

The motor from the factory did very well. It only started having problems after being rebuilt. First time my blew up was because it caught a ring. Poor instillation. The rings are so thin that its very easy to knick one going in even if youre being careful. The second time Im still not 100% sure. I havent taken it apart yet. Right now it looks like which came first the chicken or the egg. Im thinking it dropped a valve which cause the piston to jam and then break the connecting rod. Then it took the rest of the motor. I guess the rod could have broken first and then got the valve but I dont think thats the case.

No I am gonna have to say the 675 seeing as I LOVE mine. The narrower motor really helps the bike dive into the corners, if you just think about turning the thing will grab hold and carve through anything you give it on the street. The thing pulls from 4500 RPM and doesn't stop till redline, tons of torque. It wont be just like your Monster but a lot closer then the R6 would. I feel like going from a twin to a I4 you will be missing the low end grunt out of the corners, just another thing to think about.

Parts aren't that hard to come by, and they are fairly simple to work on.

Overall an extremely fun bike, with a great power band and super sexy.

News flash. It isn't the narrow motor that makes it dive into corners. It's the virtually no trail that does that.

Which is also why most people buy triple clamps before they race them.
