    Installing Clip-ons

didn't get many replies in Maint. so here goes again...

You'd THINK it wouldn't be a project. and i guess it wouldn't be if they fit w/o any issues.

But unfortunately the Woodcrafts i got from GMD Computrack are too low I'm gonna have to either find a set that are slightly raised or ride w/o the ram air tube covers (they interfere w/ lock-to-lock steering, as does the headlight assembly) and either get a longer tube for the brake fluid resevoir, or mount the resevoir lower so it reaches the brake lever. I'd also have to re-route my throttle cables & re-lube em so they're not so friggin slow.... the lowered bars make the cables do a tighter bend then they would otherwise preferr.... what a bummer.

    any suggestions?

(i can't mount em above the tripple clamp, since the stockers mount below & there's only about 8mm of shock above the tripples. so they're mounted as high on the shocks as they can get.)

Yeah, forks from a ZX6RG1 or G2. I didn't say it was an upgrade, I said it would work

You already know all the possible solutions. Get a stock set of J1 bars with the 1/2 rise (or a set of helibars, but they're 189 and also a "downgrade" for the track) or do a bit of bending/fabbing to run with the woodcrafts. You have learned all there is to learn, grasshopper. Go forth and wreak damage to your bike.

And you better be nice to my triple stand or I'll in the gloves you left in my truck

You sure you got the right parts? You can rotate 'em when ya mount 'em. Maybe if you rotate 'em forward it'll give you the clearance you need, Clarence...

They're made to help you get under your windscreen. Perhaps you're trying to set 'em up more for comfort rather than for their intended purpose (lower & further reach than stock)...

nah, they're about 2 inches lower than stock, even though they're mounted in the same location... it's cuz the stockers are rasied up...

if i swivel em forward then they hit the headlight assembly when i turn the other way... push em lower on the forks & they hit even more

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
