Well, today I made the 300 mile round trip to pick up the bike. Made the trip with Sdog30. We took 20 all the way out to the dealership as a final ride on the Ducati. It was about 130 miles or so out there. And then I picked up the new ride. The 2010 BMW S1000RR and enjoyed a ride home for about 160 miles. The tires are already broken in which is nice...and the bike is a blast to ride. The only change I need to make is to modify the rear brake pedal so it's actually usable when riding. Missed it a few times since it sits really low and some "oh shit" moments in some tighter corners. All in all, we ran a good pace out there and back. Had some old lady tell us to "enjoy our ride and to take advantage of our youth while we have it" and even had a Mass. State Trooper talk to us while we were getting fuel. He commended us for wearing full leathers when we rode and got to BS'ing about riding a bit. Turns out he just got a CBR600F3 a couple of years ago and is getting into riding. Completely down to earth trooper who just wanted to talk bikes for a few. No hassles at all. No major incidents, a long ride that went well...and a new bike. All in all a great day. Please excuse the crappy cell phone pics. I'll get some nice ones with my DSLR at some better locations in the next few weeks. Just have to find time, and the right place. Any suggestions?
Anyway, here's the crappy pics...Enjoy.

And a last one...

I'm 6'2", 210 pounds or so for a reference. The bike is on the smaller side, but feels roomier than the Ducati.
They gave me an okay trade. Unfortunately, the private market isn't so strong for bikes right now. And Ducati killed the value of the 1098 when they came out the with 1198 the following year that had the traction contol and extra CC's...it's basically the 2008 R motor in the regular models. I would have liked a little more, but it all worked out in the end.
The only thing I have to change quickly on this bike is to make a 1/2" thick aluminum block to bolt to the brake pedal. It's way too low and the adjustment doesn't cover it. Nothing worse than going to set your corner speed with a quick tap of the rear brake and not being able to reach it. Had a couple of "oh shit" moments on the way back. But otherwise, amazing is the word I'd use. Can't wait til the rev limiter comes off.
Better DSLR pics to come soon...good high quality photos.

Congrats on the new wheels, very nice!
This looks to be the bike to have this year (like the R1 was last year).
I'd say I'm jealous, but I'm more than content with the next best thing.
So here's some better photos of the BMW. I'll get some really good ones when I find a good location to shoot from. But these are better than cell phone photos.
Enjoy.
