never too risky, after my ride during blizzard of 1/12/2011, I learned the only limitation is snow depth causing me to loose ground clearance on my belly pan
my most extreme rides include riding over 90 miles in freezing rain home from Keene at night and another ride 70 miles home from Manchester at night in freezing rain turned to sleet turned to snow (7" accumulation still unplowed by the time I got home), average speeds 35-45mph, same speeds I would be driving a Jeep, past several cars in ditch, leo's and wrecker pulling them out

Highly recommend adding and up-and-back on Bear Notch if you do the Kanc. Repaved just a year or so ago.
If you do the Kancersore this time of the year w/ the peepers do it only in the a.m like previously mentioned. Most slow drivers, from my personal experience, will wave you by. I think the drivers are riders dragging their wives around. Keep cruising through and stay on 112 till damn near Vermont. Spectacular ride and you lose all the douches.

I've recently seen a driver wave me by with just one finger. He was efficient!
Drive to my house and borrow my bike for the day. Riding pillion on a wing is a completely different experience than riding pillion on anything else. I'll even put my passenger armrests (with the integrated cup holder) back on for ya',
The roads really deserve to be experienced on a bike. It's "fine" in a car. It's wonderful on a bike.
Going up there tomorrow for a ride. Other than Bear Notch Rd, any sick little side trips I should take? I'm gonna try to ride most of the day, and I'm pretty sure the Kanc is only about an hour each way. Would be fun to hit some other little roads.
PM me if they're secret..

118 is great on a well sprung adventure bike right now. I was up just a few weekends ago.
Ditto for 113 up through Evan's notch in Maine.
175 was really a really fun alternative to 118 though.
Kanac is best hit in the early AM.....
