New Kawasaki Ninja 7 and Z7 Hybrids are now being discounted over 50% and I'm thinking about making an offer.
https://www.wheelsinmotionmc.com/New...15859?ref=list
Pros:
- E-Boost mode for leader-bike* acceleration (up to 30mph) *yes leader not liter*
- Can run on pure electric up to 44mph with no range anxiety
- Start/stop at lights
- Great MPG in city
- Seems like a great deal on new tech
Cons:
- No clutch
- No DCT -- reviews say it is a slow/unrefined automated manual
- 500lbs
- Not great MPG HWY
- New tech could be troublesome with age
This would replace my Z125 city commuter. Hoping this will be a bit more versatile, a bit more fuel efficient, and possibly a bit more fun stoplight to stoplight. I also like the idea of riding something rare and different.
Thoughts?

Funny, I watched that daily rider when it first came out and shrugged the bike off. Then I watched it again last week and got to thinking this might be cool and proceeded down the youtube wormhole
No love for the e1? You can pick them up for under $4k right now. Rumors of $3k at some dealers using the $1250 kawi rebate.
That's the only thing I really watched for this bike, but figured it was relevant. Zack usually does a great job of getting down to the realities of owning a motorcycle.

I forgot if I posted about it, but I did look into the E1 as a Z125 replacement. Unfortunately, I think it shares the same limitations that prevent me from riding it more often: can't use it on a freeway. Plus the range is very limited. I do like the idea of the removable batteries so I could bring them into my office to charge.
like any hybrid; better in city and LB and surrounding areas are a blast on 2 wheels (and better than a cage IMHO). Worth a shot at 50% off...ride it a few years, and move on. There is so much variety in the smaller/midsize cc segment nowadays compared to the ninja 250/500/SV650 days; my regret is not trying more of them.

Beh. This looks like a gimmick. A plug-in hybrid Kawasaki at deep discount is what I would be interested in buying.
Sexy Flanders
Went to the dealer with my checkbook and just got back. Sat on it, then a ZX4RR (which I was planning on getting originally), then a bunch of others. I really like the hybrid! Very comfortable comparatively. I like the Ninja for the styling but the mirrors are so far forward I'd probably have do something aftermarket. The Z naked version with the mirrors mounted on the handlebar were significantly better. The seating positions were nearly identical. I think this is exactly what I want out of city bike and will draw fun attention if I bring it to the Rock Store or other big moto hangout spots here.
Unfortunately, I'm not buying it...yet. They refused to budge on the already discounted price and of course added in freight and something else bringing the total to $2k more than I was willing to spend.
Salesman: "the bike is already 50% off"
Me: "There's clearly a reason for that as it's been sitting for 2 years. I'll just keep waiting until the price is in my range"
I thoughts on hybrid and or EVs cars is to save money on gas. Weight kills this on bikes so not sure it's worth it even at a discount other than to be riding something different.
it's like they think you don't know it's been sitting for 2 years...
and how the hell does MV Agusta stay in business?!? That link has some bad ass bikes, but holy hell those leftover MV's from 2022
CA has to be their biggest market and to have that many leftovers...
I think they get markdown support from the manufacturer which is why they're not budging. At the same time I wouldn't want to keep old stock very long, I can't imagine the carrying cost works out in their favor after that much time.
Something else I didn't understand is they had a used 2016 Anniversary R1 with Shinkos for more than a brand new 2025 R1. Someone please explain that to me!

A few of us rode a demo one this summer. Each on our own unguided ride. None of us came back inspired. At MSRP there is so much better to be had. At mark down pricing? Eh not for me. Also riding a bike without out a clutch seems so weird from a dead stop. Started with a clutch in 1974, barring a hand problem will keep Using one.

I rode a Goldwing DCT and while I was impressed it was very weird not having a clutch lever.
Looks like it’s bottom of the daily rider leaderboard and Zach’s assessment seems consistent with other reviews:

If I can get one for $5k I think it’d be fun to try out for my intended use of it. Perhaps the daily rider ranking will make this possible

You can get them for under $5k at some dealerships in the south. Cheapest by you is $5500. Maybe they will make a new years deal?

Cycletrader.
Oh you must mean the one in Tuscon. That's still a good 8 hours from me but I was still planning to give them a call. There's also a naked version in Salinas, also 6 or 7 hours away.
Idk. I just searched around LA for the closest cheap.one. the ones you can get in georgia for $4500 can possibly be used as a bargaining chip

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
I think most of the buyers are flying to support the technology more than anything else. On paper there are tons of bikes that are better and for cheaper. Even at discount most royal Enfields and cf motos rate better and for less money. Clutchless is the only thing that stand out but Honda is way more into that now. For less money
