hmmm , what about the Tuono ? ? ?![]()

I have a ZRX1200R but I don't think that i would be the best to go by. This is my first bike and I have very very little knowledge of bikes in general. However, I will tell you that it is a fing blast to ride. Very very comfortable. Enjoy![]()
Bras cause cancer.
ZRX1200 seems to be a very good choice if you are into the styling. A guy that I had classes with at UMASS-Lowell is a Penguin School Instructor at NHIS and rides a modified ZRX as his track/street bike. I recall seeing it once in the bike parking lot at school and he still had the race rubber in it. The rear tire had little melted balls of rubber on the edges. Those are very sweet, and obviously pretty diverse!
Other than that: Speed 3, FZ1, Z1000, Bandit 1200, Honda 919 all seem pretty good. I just read Cycle World that next year MotoGuzzi will probably have an 1100 that should be in this category. Too many good choices these days. How about the SV1000 (or S)?

how's the zrx for 2-up? I'm starting to think I really should be looking for more of a "sport-standard" or naked streetbike, rather than the sport-tourers I've been looking at...
Also, what about the ZRX1100? Is there anything specific / different I should know about them?

My dad has a Guzzi, and I'm not too fond of the engine and handling. The SV1000 is ugly; too square and angled.
I think either a ZRX or a Speed Triple will be in my garage once the Ducati is sold.
Matt, as far as your question goes, I do beleive the ZRX is a comfortable bike for solo and two up. It is a heavier bike with a large seat and a stood up riding position, so I would just assume it would be nice to ride for longer distances.

i like those colors WAY better than the ones available right now.
anyways... listen to the boy... you want a tuono. and you want to let me ride it all the time.![]()
Ok, ok. First person to buy my 1985 Honda Accord 4-door, baby blue with reddish rust holes and lazy rear veiw mirror for $15,000 (I'll even throw in a Ducati!) can ride my new Tuono ONCE in a while.....

The Speed triple is scheduled for a make-over soon.I think either a ZRX or a Speed Triple will be in my garage once the Ducati is sold.
The most important thing is...competent suspension! My first bike had non-adjustable suspension, it was gawd awful. If you want to hit twisties on a 500lb bike, you really want adjustable quality suspension. I have been extremely happy with my ZRX1200.
I would NEVER buy a 919 or any bike with non-adjustable suspension again! I made that mistake once!

The ZRX1100 can take ZX11 cams. The 1200 cannot, though the ZZR1200 cams will likely fit. With ZX11 cams, a re-jet and a slip on muffler (the stock headers are excellent and do not need to be replaced for good performance) the 1100 will really fly. They can be had quite a bit cheaper than a ZRX1200.Originally posted by Matt K

That said, a ZRX 1200 with ZZR1200 cams and similar mods would be putting 150+ HP and octometric assloads of torque to the ground. That would be fun to ride.
I would not go the cams + exhaust + rejet route. Cams are not easy to install. A full exhaust + jet kit will net 130HP+ on a ZRX1200.The ZRX1100 can take ZX11 cams. I think the 130HP range is good. 150HP+ is a bit much for a ZRX1100 or ZRX1200 frame. If ya want 150HP+, get a Hayabusa/ZX-12R which is built from the ground up with HP in mind!

This compares a stock CBR1100xx vs. a ZRX1200 (exhaust + jet kit only).
So a leftover ZRX1200 ($7000) + Exhaust/jet ($500) = $7,500 and 130HP+.
The CBR1100xx has a comparable 1137cc engine, the ZRX1200 has a 1164cc engine.
Notice how the ZRX1200 has 25HP more at 6,000RPM!

How can that be? Seems like the bike is made more for females, with that stiff seat and deep, powerful vibrations....

Actually, I was just referring to Father's Day, which is coming up shortly. I'm sure it would make a great Mother's Day gift if someone wanted to shop a little early.

My buddy has a ZRX1200R...very nice, very comfortable, very fast. It is similar to the Suzuki Bandit 1200 in feel and power...both do not like slow riding, and both have no problem lifting the front wheel off the ground at will. A ZRX1200R is an excellent choice.![]()

Sure its air oil cooled.. with no cooling system... well saves weight..and one less thing to break..

As for the Oil Buring yeah.. some 01's (not mine thanks gawd) had this issue... Most 02's and all 03's are clear. Still good bang for the cheap buck....
I think the model might squeak out in '04. A lot of us are hoping they go with the Haybusa Motor (or 'newer' gixxer) for 05.
I like the Tuono too.. again if I was like you.. sell my car.. and my bike to get that pasta burner.

I think a lot more 01'-02' Bandits burn oil than are reported. Suzuki has instituted a ghey policy for oil-burners: they must burn atleast 1 quart in 600 miles to be fixed. As for the Oil Buring yeah.. some 01's (not mine thanks gawd) had this issue... Our 02' burns 1 quart every 1500-2000 miles, so it won't be fixed. The worst part is, sometimes you can see blue smoke on hard acceleration.
So I ask you this...do you really want to spend $7,000 on a new motorcycle that may burn oil and puff blue smoke??
ITS EMBARASSING AND A HASSLE! Tell Suzuki to shove it up their arse, and buy a different motorcycle!!
