Rye might have a zx7 motor that would fit right in that thing...

Always loved the ZX-9. It is very comfortable, has tons of power, and handles surprisingly well. By the time I could comfortably afford one, the 12R had come out so I bought the 9R on steroids. If I had the money, I would still like to pick one up. They are a lot of fun!
You can also get a big bore kit from Muzzy that will put the 9R up to 200RWHP on motor alone!![]()
Factory jet kit and a full system and your looking at over 140 hp @ the wheel. When I was in San Diego, I sat in on a friends bike being tuned by Lee's Cycle. Factory kit and an Akrapovic full system netted 141hp without much massaging. Probably the most underated bike since its remake in '98. Suffered from underwhelming (but still very capable) suspension and what some would say...plain looks. The magazines drove it into the ground because it did everything right and did not have the narrow focus of the latest liter bikes. Worth every penny.

I think the Muzzy kit puts out 165 on pump fuel. Zlock racing also makes a great bigbore setup for it. I had been thinking of doing the bigbore kit on my model 9r motor. Brings it out to a 950 and 150+ hp. Zlocks kit is only $ 1200.

when is the next ride? i need to put some miles on that thing. its been way to long since we've all got out together.
i'll have to get some pics when the girl lets me touch the camera. there's kind of a jealous vibe between the bike and her. its quite funny.![]()
My 2001 is mechanically identical to yours. It's been the most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned. It has 46,000 miles since I got it new in 2002 and has had zero defects. Eats tires though; I think I'm on my 12th set. Mine is stock, no pipe or jet kit.
It feels about 50 lbs lighter on the road if you put 6mm worth of washers between the rear shock and it's mount to jack up the rear, then set sag and stuff. Much nicer in cold weather with synthetic fork oil too.
