OK, I know that I might piss a few people off by making this statement: She sucks! I mean, yes she's cute and all, but she has had less than average results during her racing career, at least in AMA. The only reason why she is being supported by a factory is because she is a semi-celebrity and she is a woman. There are racers who are far better than she is who are much more deserving of factory support. We have several fast racers in LRRS who could lap her twice during an AMA 20+ lap race, so why don't they get any factory support to compete in the AMA?

Don't forget the want to know why there is less female interest in bikes
They know they are running out of Ludites like me.
Maybe a Versacci (sp) 600 RR would get some play ?

Hey, I think its excellent.
Sure, she probably gained that sponsorship by being a semi-celeb, attractive female, but its also prety evident that she is, at the very least, a competent rider with some talent; 9th in a major AMA race is nothing to scoff at.
I think the idea is mainly to promote female interest in sport bikes and sport bike racing, and who knows - maybe with some top shelf equipment and coaching, she will do a lot better in her racing.
Yes, she placed 9th in the now defunct Pro Thunder class, which did not exactly see packed grids, hence why the class is no longer around. Is she a good racer? Yes, probably run circles around me at the track. Is she good enough to compete in AMA Superbike and Supersport, the two most prestigous and competitive classes of motorcycle roadracing in the USA? NO. Will she bring more women to the sport, maybe.

I think attracting women to motorsports in general is an all up-hill battle. I think time and $$ would be much better spent elsewhere.

I think our tax dollars should go towards encouraging chimpanzees to join the sport, because there's nothing funnier in this world than a monkey riding a motorcycle. Not a thing.
I think there is an ever increasing number of women interested in motorsports. I have been to several "motorsport" type events and there are lots of womenOriginally posted by bentbryan

Should they support her just because she is a female...no. But more women in the sport would be nice. There is not exactly an open door for women in bike racing.
It would be nice to get more participation of qualified female ridersAs far as there being better riders at lrrs, maybe that's true, but part of success is just luck. There are many talentless celebrities that were at the right place at the right time, while people with more talent are overlooked.

I'm not sure that would be true in the professional sports arena.Originally posted by Teez

Sure it is..
The right set of bad luck and circumstance can easily derail an athletic career.
The right set of good luck, personality, etc.. can help a lot, especially in sports where the athelete has to court sponsors.
