Yeah, would be too low. Something like this used as a rise (plus the ball, obviously) should get you close http://www.curtmfg.com/part/45080
Did you finally give in and pick one up?
Going from the ~3" drawbar that came with my Subaru hitch to a 5 3/4 made a huge difference in how my Kendon loads and handles. Much happier with it now. Bought the higher rise bar from etrailer.com but you may have better luck locally if you have a Class III or IV hitch.
I believe that it's around ~19" total (ground to top of ball) so still a little lower than the Kendon spec.

Well, ended up buying the 2 rail version for 1500 bucks. Things in gorgeous shape. Not sure how I'm gonna store this in my garage, at least until its cleaned up a bit. Especially since it is taller than my garage door, but oh well. Least I can go riding again!
Don't u have a truck?
Spare. I did find that it touched down when I had the lower rise ball mount.
Moved it in the interest of lower tongue weight.

Unless you have the heavy duty, I'd say non issue.

I let the S.O. drive home from NJMP a few years ago. Normal aggressive Boston commuting behavior for her (through NY traffic). Still have intact bike, trailer, car.![]()

Another thought - removing the spare from the original mount made lifting the trailer up into the standing position considerably easier.
