The sanctimonious are coming!
I have the utmost sympathy for the rider in this, Inexperience + Speed + Adrenaline...tragic.
I *do* think a lot of first-time buyers really dont honestly know just how fast (and dangerous) what they're swinging a leg over really is.
I can walk in with a few thousand to any of the major dealers and walk out with something that'd put any car on the road to shame, and get me in all kinds of trouble faster than I have time to react. Couple of guys here at my work want to lear to ride - their first bikes that they want? '600 sportbike' to put it in their words.
I've preached the MSF heavily to them - but I still dont think most folks really realise the risk to a new rider, that a bike which'll hit 60+ in first gear really poses. With that kind of performance and power, you've got all of One mistake to make.
Given the vehement opposition to something as farily benign as Helmet Laws over here, I've got no idea how tiered licencing like back in the UK would work - but I do think it's a good thing. And lets face it, you can have a hell of a lot of run wringing the neck of a Ninja 250 - I hop on a ZX-14R and treat it the same way, I'll be in all kinds of crap.
Learning just how much performance there is in a 'little' 250 is a humbling experience, and will serve well for later bikes also - and hopefully defuse a little of the 'look at how powerful my dick/bike is' testosterone frenzy, which seems to have a lot of people viewing bikes that'd be at home on the MotoGP circuit a few years back, as 'beginner' rides.
While I wish no ill will, a rider that makes a mistake and pays for it, well... What there doesn't make sense? Should the roads be paved with Fluff, and bikes made of Nerf?

More self-righteous drivel? How enlightening.
The kid messed up. Sucks. My belief is that the state should not be burdended with protecting people from themselves. That's the Lord's work.

Im torn, obviously sad when a kid dies, but thats the choice he made. I dont run for the exact reasons here, even though I could probably outrun 90% of cops that decide to chase me. Its going to negatively affect all of us in some way or anything, so I cant feel too bad. This aint a 10 year old, its a 22 year old, they know what they're doing, so its a little tough for me to feel too much sympathy.
And why is this story posted? For a bunch of namby "RIP" tributes? That's great stuff, right there. Building up a case for The Man to be further empowered over individuals is weak, and counter to anyone with a free will.
jnm988, do you have the conch?
Dont screw this thread up from this idiot..pay him no mind. He will get his.
He is the type that doesn't want anyone to know who he is and will never show his face, He is a coward and really doesn't need to be bothered with, forget him.
As for the crash, Its really rough how often this is happening this year. Whats worse is that name sounds way too familiar....
