    long lasting 18" rear tire

    any recommendations on an 18" rear tire?

    I'm looking for value, not performance. My FZR600 is 17 years old now, and really just a commuter, so I either want tires that last a long time, or are just so cheap that replacing them every 3k miles is cheaper than buying expensive tires right off the bat.

    here's my research:
    currently running a bridgestone BT014...they only get ~6-8,000 miles...a 150/60zr18 is $144.62 on swmototires.com
    I've read that the Shinko podium (in an OEM 140/60/18) gets significantly fewer miles...but it's only $97.99 on amazon.com
    reelrazor on the fzrarchives raves about the av56 storms for longevity, but it's bigger at 150/70/18, and it's $171 at chaparral motorsports

    any suggestions?

    edit: hopefully ebay wins this time around: $89.99 (free shipping) on a new BT014...ending in 4 days.

    I was going to say I ran the bt014 on my fizz and I never payed more than 100 for them. For an as tire they last quite well and they stick awesome even in the wet. I have heard not such great things about shinkos as well. I would stick with the bt. Or go with one of the ridge stone touring tires. I wanna say the bt45? If they still make it.

    how long ago, tires have increased dramaticly in price the past couple years

    a Duro HF918 in 140/70-18 can be had for about $80, Duro HF302 bias can be had for under $60

    IRC makes similar sizes for similar price

    Your right randy I keep forgeting I've had my 6r for about 4 years now. The cheapest price I could find quickly was around 125ish with quick searching.
