Left my key in it!

So yesterday I go back to my bike in the parking lot after a hard day in
the office here at UMass Boston.

My key is in the ignition! Idiot!

I shoulda just put up a sign on it saying:
Hey folks Free Bike Here! too

ever done that?
I'll be more careful now!

not only have i done that. i shut the bike off via the kill switch leaving the key in the on position. nothing like coming out for a lunch time rip to a dead battery. good thing i work in a small town and i can see the bike from my window.

I have done it...but usually in my driveway...and with the cover on...thank God.

I bought a huge keychain for this reason. I notice if the keychain is in my pocket or not.

I always have a small panic attack if i realize i left my key in the ignition or on the seat because although I know my doors won't lock on me unless i press the button, i know i'm super screwed if they do.

But I'm getting in the habbit of turning the bike off with the key instead of the cut-off switch & that helps.

lol its not like im attaching a cinder block to the key..Just something small rather than having just a key in my pocket..Also makes it harder for the key to fall out of my pocket

I've never left it in the ignition, but i've left if in my seat release a million times. And for some stupid reason, that is always the last place i look.

I did it once when I first started riding. Now Im paranoid about it and triple check before I walk away from the bike. I still tap my pocket every once and a while to make sure the key is still there

I always use the ignition to kill the bike, for that reason as well as after owning older bikes and having numerous kill switches go flaky on me, I figure why wear out two switches when turning off the bike when you can just wear out one

I've left my key a few times as well. I've debated getting a keychain but then again if I forget the key in it it will be less noticable without a keychain.

I used to leave the key on all the time and my battery would die.
Now I have trained myself to only use the key to turn off the ignition and whenever I do the key comes out. Bike not running key out.

All it takes is one time though to learn your lesson.
Now I am anal about double checking and triple checking it.
