so what does everybody do with there "old" lid? put it in the trash? i for one have a little trouble throwing a perfect looking but older helmet away. maybe i'll start using them for target practice.

Display them on a shelf.

I have about 10 retired helmets (all Arai) on a shelf in the basement.

I'm on my 3rd helmet (1st two were HJC's and completely not worth saving on a shelf). The one I have now is an Arai Quantum II, love it, definitely throwing it on a shelf with a plaque in front of it describing the years used, and bikes used with.

+1, Stick it on a mannequin or something like that, and then send Mr. 308 to do its job. Especially if said lid was a cheaper one.

So...who's got a line on a new Rx-7 for cheap money. At this point, solid colors are fine to be the cheapest..

11 year old lid eh? they tell us at work that the shells of our hardhats become brittle after a year or two just from the sun, heat, and sweat that theyre exposed to. I'm not sure if its the same with helmets, but i wouldnt stake my skull on it. (course my hardhat is also 5 years old)

as far as what to do with old lids, save them. i plan to keep all of mine over the years as trophys for my survival haha
