I'm getting down to the details of my mini vacation riding up north next week. Wednesday I'm heading out from Bridgton, ME early morning, across the Kanc to Lincoln and then I want to get over to T*** road.
I'm looking for two routes, the first to get me west and the second to get me back. I know there's a bunch of VT people here so help me out with the good roads!
Steve... if you know the name of T*** road you can mapquest it.![]()

Doc,
I've got T*** loaded and locked in the GPS. I'm looking for good roads to get from Lincoln to T***.
What's good between the kanc and T?
In vermont Route 2 to 100 to 17, take 17 into NY

From Lincoln, one decent option would be to continue west on NH 112 to US 302 to VT 232 to US 2, then take VT 100 B to VT 100 to VT 17 to get to NY. I believe there are also some variations in NH that involve 116 or something similar, but I'm not particularly familiar with that part of the trip.
Thanks for the suggestions. Here's a preliminary route I laid out.
112W to 302W to 232 NW to 2W to 100b SW to 100W to 17W
I attached a Word document with a picture of the route excluding T*** in deference to keeping it somewhat quiet.![]()
Take the above mentioned roads west, then you could take these back east, vice versa.
From T**** you can stay in NY and head south to the RT 74 (NY side) RT 73 (VT side) ferry crossing, $4 per bike, then take VT RT 73 all the way back to Rochester VT to its intersection with RT 100. Bang a left, .5 to .75 miles or so you'll come into town, and the green will be on your right. As you're passing the green take your very first right, just before the Mobil station. This is Bethel Mtn Rd according to my map but it is NOT marked at the intersection with RT 100 I don't believe. Head up the hill, about a mile, mile and a half up take the first right onto Camp Brook RD / Bethel Mtn road. It will intersect RT 12, bear right at the Y intersection to take RT 12 south and in Bethel it joins RT 107. Stay on 107 to RT 14. Head south to Sharon VT, left onto RT 132. Take it all the way to RT 5. From there you're 30 mins or so south of RT 112 / 302. Head north on 5 if you like. RT 25A in Orford NH sucks. 25C just north of it in Piermont NH sucks. RT 25 in Haverhill NH has been redone and is a nice ride, take that to Warren NH then head for RT 118 to 112 back in Lincoln.
Sorry for the long drawn out explanation, don't want ya to get lost and come looking for me. Heading north on RT 5 in VT will put ya 3 miles from my place
Anyhow with KB's suggestions and mine, you won't go wrong either way.
I've not been over RT 232 that he mentioned recently. Last year it was horrific, but I have heard it was repaved and nice. I'll check it out sometime soon, it really is a slick road out through the Groton state forest. Nice and twisty and out in the sticks, no houses for quite some time. It's a touristy area / summer homes on the lakes so you might find some traffic but even on weekends it's pretty tame.

My suggested route
from Lincoln
118 south to Wentworth
25A west to Fairlee, VT
5 & 244 to West Fairlee
113 to Chelsea
110 & East Randolph Road to East Randolph
14, 64, 12 & 12A to Roxbury
Roxbury Mountain Road to Warren
100 to rt 17

i have searched nesr forever now and still cant figure out what road this is lol WTF T--- road and W---- road still evade me
a minor detour to that - in woodstock nh take 118 over to warren, south on 25 for like 30sec then N on 25c - you'll be required to stop and say hi to Chris (ftms) just after the big field and continue on 25c until VT. you'll continue in vt on 25 until you rejoin 302.
you miss some good stuff on 112 but they recently redid that area and some of the filler is scary. also the 118-25c trip is way better IMHO

I've only just started playing around w/the maps however... http://grouprider.com/view_route.php...0&road_id=3656

naw, I've just made a habit of taking that route, from farmington , I meander thru town roads to 132 in sanbornton, then out thru bristol, west shore rd, HBR to 25
25a's condition has been going down hill, and last 2 times I took that route there was a damn bicycle & running race going on, one of em was big, cyclist stretched all the way from wentworth to Fairlee
next time I go to my dad's in hinesburg, I'll taker 25c and then cut thru goose green
I tend to try staying off 302, 2 as they are primary travel routes for trucks & cages

The bicycle event was "The Prouty"...it happens every summer in July and it can be a mess to ride through. I think they do multiple routes, hardcore people take the longer routes, etc. I've seen them on 25 and 25C, etc.
25A and C are both sucky. I guess it depends on the bike though, decent suspension travel not so bad. Bike intended to be raced...not so good.
The trip through goose green isn't so bad, but the last 4 miles of 113 into Chelsea suck. Eagle Hollow road is still dirt, wish they'd repave that, but then I'd have to ride even further down 113 to get to 110.
i'm not familiar w goose green

It's Kind of like a "town within a town" deal. It doesn't have its own zip code or phone exchange. My parents live in Bradford center...the old timers call that village Cassville but it's still Bradford, same with Goose Green...it's still Corinth.
If you were to go through Bradford then take Chelsea RD heading towards Vershire, you'd go through Goose Green.
In a nutshell, it's some farm houses, regular houses, and typical backwoods VT (cars up on blocks, front porches littered with trash, dogs roaming free, lil redneck kids trying to get the guy on the blue and white gixxer 1k to do wheelies, etc)
Hope you enjoyed the edjumakashun. I know the excitement of such hole in the wall towns will be overwhelming at first, but when you heal up if you want to do a field trip we can![]()
