GOOD TIMES! Love the gap! alot closer than T road, although that kicks ass too!and to top it all off, we beat the rain!
What?
Tyler, you should take a wider line around that curve. You're liable to get your head knocked off by some idiot in a car coming the other direction.

Thanks mark, I'll keep that in mind. I guess I actually get a little nervous getting too close to the side. But makes total sense, I'll try that next time I go up.
Edit: Picnic table corner - I know a guy who put his bike under the guard rail in that corner... of course he rides a hell of a lot faster than I do too.
What?
how often do cars go through there? i'd say put up a detour sign.how bout radio comm. have two guys standing either end.

It can get a fair amount of traffic, especially on weekends during tourist season. I was actually pretty psyched that the only vehicle I caught Saturday morning was a hippy bus that pulled right to let me by; I can recall getting stuck behind slower traffic driving it when I had a Golf, which could rather suck.
yup, love cages on that road...I'd say 1 outta 3 cars pull over for me when i get stuck behind em, but they are usually typical Vermont drivers and will not budge (of course they don't even see you till you pass em).
The best was when me and Markbvt (some other dudes too) got stuck behind this wicked squid on a GSXR 600 in a t-shirt and jeans, no gloves, going through corners like a granny up there...but he would kill it on the straights!
He was just being safe through the corners I'm sure, no need to push it right?

I remember that guy, he pissed me off. It's always fun passing Gixxers on my Bonneville.
Traffic on the App Gap is sporadic. If I turn around at either end to do it again or pull off at the top, I usually wait until no cars have gone by for a while so I don't get stuck behind them.

I like seeing the green cars with the yellow striping on 17
In the picnic table turn, if anyone is wondering what those gouges are as you're going up, in the right lane...some meat head decided his 1500 pound cruiser wasn't going to make the turn so he decided to slide the whole bike on its side to slow it down. When that didn't work, he aimed for the guardrail. That worked.
After the number of horror stories I've heard, wrecks I've seen, and having been on T***** and E********* rd's, 17 does little for me....I'll go over it but I really don't care to do laps. It looks slick as hell in the pics, but those are pics. Big difference once you get there. Sadly many people misjudge the turns on that road, including people in cages.
yup to that too Slyder...I have always found it lots of fun...but def. dangerous...180 switchbacks are tough, cages cross the line alot...I'll be going up 17 this afternoon before Bike Night if anyone wants to hit it.
