Now I have to get the Hero2 to be able to live stream. That would be soooo cool to be able to stream a feed right to the ECK Racing site...

couldn't you just stream to your cell phone (put it in the tail) and then use that to stream it to the website. that seems like it would be doable with how they describe the thing on the website

What is the max distance you will be from the base station? You might be able to set up a linksys wrt54g router with tomato firmware. This lets you crank up the wireless signal to possibly a 1000 plus feet range. possible more with better antennas. The weak link might be the cell phone wireless retransmitting. It would require some testing to validate.

There is network access at the site, I've toyed with the idea of doing a live stream of the announcements (FM radio to grab that) and possibly cornerworker radio over it. It wouldn't be much more work to prep a relay node to be stashed somewhere central and highish on the track to grab the GoPro stream back to the same setup so you'd have video to go with the audio.

Consider a blanket of GoPro's, both mobile and stationary across a whole track.

I'm guessing it would cost around $25k in parts. Labor may vary depending on who was doing it.

This will never work...ever. Maybe in theory, or with horrendously crap quality streams. I've set up a few wireless DVR's in my time, and 5 800x600 resolution cameras could barely stream into one network, let alone 50 at 720/1080.

Yes, but when you own the company (GoPro, BIIIIG sponsor) you can play with your own betas. It's running in the field, I'd expect it to be released soon.
