Wondering if anyone can offer any insight as to the cheapest companies? I thought I was getting the shaft from progressive paying $1,773/yr on the 01 RC-51, that was until I started shopping around. Other quotes I have received are Allstate $2085/yr, State Farm $2800/yr, and Geico $3505/yr...
In the last 5yrs I only have one ticket on my record, 2 more & an accident if you go back further...I'm kinda at a loss as I've heard of a lot of people paying in the hundreds, not thousands, for bike insurance.
On a side note it looks like im saving about $500 a year on my car insurance through Allstate...
Any help please? Thanks!
Nick
I can't comment on NH, but I just got my updated policy for 2008 in MA. I'll be paying $508 a year for full coverage.

Turn 25.... then you can stop bending over for insurance (as much)
I feel your pain....but insurance drops a ton once you hit 25
FWIW, when I was shopping for a new bike in 04, I was contemplating either a Honda, Triumph, or a Ducati. With most insurance companies I checked, all Hondas (for me personally) cost more than double what it would cost to insure a Ducati or Triumph and I believe Allstate actually quoted me triple. The cheapest that I found for any make was Progressive, but it seems Hondas sucks to insure in NH, no matter which ins company you choose.
+1 on turning 25. It's not just NH - I bought an Eagle Talon TSI in New York, and made sure to pick it up on my 25th birthday - one day earlier would have cost me over $500 additional in insurance ($300 vs $800 annual). As for the bike insurance - I had trouble finding a place to even offer me a policy at 35 years old on a CBR 600 f4i. It wasn't until I threatened to yank the house and cars from my existing insurance company they even gave me a quote...

FYI in MA 25 doesnt do ANYTHING! My insurance didnt go down and both my agents that I had that year told me it changes nothing. OH and when I got married it didnt change either!

NH rapes you when it comes to bike insurance but Jesus Christ you are paying a lot. The cheapest I found was Progressive and that was still around $800 a year. I think it has to do with the no helmet law in NH but I could be wrong.
Edit- Did you take the MSF course? Are you a AMA member? I forget which company gives a discount if you are a AMA member but I think it is Progressive.

In MA it used to be that once you had 6 years of operating experience, your rates would drop considerably because you are now an "experienced operator."
So much has changed with MA insurance over the past year and a half that I have no idea if this is still the case.

I am not an AMA member, and they no longer give MSF discounts. I got my $1773 down to $784...Nationwide is defenitely on my side. With them, however, I have to carry their car insurance also, which drops from $1882 annualy to $1724...total annual savings about $1,147...unfortunately now I have a headache after dealing with insurance agents all day.

They don't give the MSF discount anymore? Since when?

I know for sure Progressive doesn't because I called right after I took it & they said they no longer offered it. Gave me some BS about thinkin of bringin it back blah blah. I didn't even try with Nationwide today because I can't for the life of me find my card anywhere...
NH. Married. Over 25. Pristine record dating back to age 16. Bike's an '07 zx6r. Progressive was the cheapest for me ($52 a month). Allstate was more than triple Progressive prior to last week. They recently called and asked if they could requote. Their prices were still $106 per month. I had a long talk with their agent about how they priced their services and frankly he didn't have any answers for me. I didn't think Geico motorcycles in NH.. at least not when I was looking in February. Maybe that has changed?

Progressive $750/year full coverage. I am 26 one accident which was so friggin minor and no moving violations.
And to answer the questions previous in this thread its Nationwide that gives AMA members a discount.
I pay $430 a year on the TL full coverage through progressive
Looks like you old men get all the deals, lol. Least i'm saving almost a grand....one day hopefully i'll be paying Sub 500's like some of you....
I pay $45/month-ish for my bike insurance but I am 25, married, clean record and good student discount, as well as multiple vehicles and multiple lines (homeowner discount). I go through state farm. shop around, and don't discount your local companies - they might surprise you

Liberty Mutual was about a third of Progressive's cost when I was under 25 with my Fireblade. I couldn't find a quote under 2 grand till I called Liberty; most were closer to 3.
Now I'm an old, fat, married, KLR ridin' homeowner. I don't really worry about bike insurance premiums anymore.
