Going Saturday to look at a 1998 Honda Superhawk. He wants $3500 for it, and this has come down a good amount over the past month. I think it might still be a little high, but better than it was a few weeks ago. Anyone know of any issues or problems that these bikes had that I should be on the lookout for? suggestions on value? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
searching CL via searchtempest, it looks like quite a few out there. A couple in NH look pretty good (in the ads anyway), Penacook @ $2800, Loudon @ $3000.
I saw a bunch a few months ago 98-99 on craigslist all in decent condition with less than 20k all for less than $3k.
I do not think that one posted above is a good deal.
Accessory/add-on list sounds impressive to read but I'm not impressed with its condition nor miles.![]()

Superhawks have great Motors, but unless they have upgraded suspension are slobs in the corners. It's like riding a crappy Bobs Furniture love seat through a bumpy corner.

Other bikes he is looking at are CBR600RR or F4i red/blk color combo preferably
Odd, I have read a couple of reviews on that bike, and none of them ever mentioned ill handling. The only bad thing I read was that they only get 100 miles or so to a full tank...
A friend has this bike, and would let it go closer to $3000 by now..
Or you can buy my Aprilla Falco for $5000!
1999 Honda CBR F4 600cc : Color: Black and Yellow
Miles: 7,000
Bike is all stock except for a S4 Vance and Hines pipe, DID racing chain, second look seat skin, second look tank skin, carbon fiber air intake covers, carbon fiber triple tree cover, smoked racing wind screen.
I am looking for $3,500. Bike is super clean and has been babied. I haven’t ridden it that much over the last few of years and I didn’t have it inspected last two years but it will pass with flying colors. I have a new battery for it but I haven’t put it in yet.

Gas mileage sucks on them. They are very thirsty when you open the throttle on dual 48mm carbs. The best I have seen on the street is 36mpg. On the track4 sessions then re-fuel.
Cam chain tensioner are a problem.(A lot of Honda's have this problem)
Reg/rec can also be a problem if it has the old style without cooling fins.
Hell my R6 only get mid 30's mpg too, so we're use to that. It appears that guy took care of this hawk. Haha, I know when it comes to sell the R6 I won't be taking any close up shots
I don't think Drew or I are going to be ripping up any pavement, we ride pretty sedate, even on twisty group rides (well he hasn't done any). So how in depth it handles on turns is not a major concern atm. At this point I don't see track days in our future. Even our R6 has totally messed up suspension but we are so use to it it's a non issue (squished it down to max so I could get on bike, so it is VERY harsh on anything other than smooth pavement). I told Drew that if he sees something that really catches his eye and to him looks better than anything else he has ever seen, that as long as it is in decent mechanical condition go for it. We haven't been on (well I had a 250 but I thought that was so uncomfy) any other bikes so we have nothing to compare them with and you pretty much can get use to anything (for the most part). But you will always love your first bike right? Especially if YOU think it's the bee's knees. Kinda like a hot chick right? She may be a total bitch to deal with after awhile but you'll keep her around and do her anyway cuz she gets you where you need to go every timeUse her up, have your fun...then move on to something more sensible.
