    Alcantara seat covering - feeler

Anyone interested in a group buy? The material is real expensive to buy, but If we can get 5 or 6 people interested it could be done affordably.

If you don't know what it is, you don't want/need it.

It's about $100 per square meter. Minimum 3 meters purchased. We would have to agree on a color.

So, I think we could do 4 seats per square meter. If we had 12 people on the group buy, we could get the material for $25 each. I have an exotic car upholstery place near me that would do the fitting. I could get a quote from them to do the whole lot at once.

I'm thinking black or grey for color.

I have had the pleasure of sitting on this material in a lamborghini and it is fantastic! i don't know if it is an all weather material though. how would it hold up to rain and road grime? seems like a bitch to clean.

I'm pretty sure the stuff cleans up very very easily. Wild Alcantara deer roaming the plains of Western Africa can be cleaned with a mild detergent until shining new again.

Your basic car upholstery shampoo will work perfectly on Alcantara.

good to know. like i said i wasn't sure because the material seemed to be very close to suede and that stuff is for shit in any sort of weather.

That's one of the reasons suede is so much cheaper (like 10 X cheaper).

I'd be interested. I might need a bit more fabric than your average sportbike seat though.

Suomy uses this for their cheek padding(never heard of any other helmet co. using it). It's nice stuff. I wonder how it would be for a seat on a sportbike though, think it would make it harder to slide around in the seat?

That's the idea. Stops you sliding around. For track use you should be OFF the seat anyway Mike!!!!

I wanted grey, but black would work for me also.

we need about 10 people to make this work.

i wouldnt use it on the seat. the alcanatara in my suomy starts to "ball" up after three years of use on the bottom where it rubs the table or whatever it sits on. id assume it would accelerate on a seat. its gonna to look like that steering wheel aka like shit

plus it doesnt repel water so the foam underneath is going ot get wet everytime it rains or you wash it.

seems like a bad choice for a seat cover, almost as bad as leopard print

I'll agree that it would not be as hard wearing as the stock vinyl seat on a bike. I'm looking for something a little showy though, and that's what this is all about. The very high end MVs come with Alcantara seats and they look awesome.

If you've seen race cars they often have alcantara on the steering wheels, as well as alcantara on the palms of the drivers' gloves. That combo is practically like having your hands glued to the wheel.

get some alcantara on the seat as well as sewn into the hamstrings of your leathers and you could hang off without ANY effort

I knew someone would point that out.

I'm lazy, I need a little less friction in the seat area to get me moving from side to side.
