ok so after my recent big street crash i've had some time to think and i think i need to start riding on the street again. don't try and follow the logic it's not sane.
anyway what i'm looking for is a cool older cafe racer project. i've had some pretty good finds on craigslist. not that i'm ready to pull the trigger just yet....though there is a very tempting CB500 i'm looking at good and hard at.
anyway alot of these older (1970s) bikes don't have titles. according to the MA rmv web site all i need is a bill of sale and proof of last registration for anything older than 1980. the bill of sale is no problem but not everyone has proof of last registration because the bikes have been in storage for years. is there a way around this?
anyone have any experiance in this area??
The Mass RMV sucks. So you will need said bill of sale. With out an old registration in place of a title you are screwed. The best way is to take the bike with a bill of sale and get a form from the police stating it was an untitled bike. They will run the numbers to make sure it's not stolen and then you can jump through other numerous hoops to get it registered... OR... have a buddy register it in his name in say New Hampshire a non title state and then transfer (sell ) it to you, and you now have a current registration. They still will have to check the numbers I believe but the process is a lot less painfull.
Have Doc or some other friendly vermonter Register it then you will have reg. ( ithink all you need is bill of sale)
