I was on this ride as well. I had been talking with Luke for about 10 minutes before the ride started and he had a positive attitude about the day ahead.
Reports of speeding motorcycles on 95N may be true but I watched Luke riding and he was NOT one of them. I was behind Luke most of the day and he stayed in his lane, followed the flow of traffic, and didn't mess around.
I sped ahead of the group because I had to leave the cruise early and head back down 95S. I wanted to get far enough ahead so I could turn around and see them on my way back. I turned around at exit 53 I believe it was and headed South. When I didn't see the group after a couple miles I started to worry.
When I came around a corner I could see black smoke rising and when I came over the hill I saw the line of motorcycles on the side of the road and thick smoke coming from the tree line. EMT and firetrucks were already on scene. I pulled over on the shoulder of 95S and called someone that I knew was ahead of the group and told them what happened.
Later that day I got a phone call with the bad news. I don't really know if it was bike or rider error but one confused witness said he just went out of control and the only thing they could guess (from what they saw) was that it was speed wobble while trying to change lanes.
Well once they get the investigation finished i should be able to find out a bit more, usually more then they report.
i often wondered how some one can crash while going perfectly straight... than i had a schrader valve randomly fail on my front tire one day.
sometimes weird shit just happens.
RIP to the rider and my condolences to his friends and family.
I thought the same with this, a front tire blow-out at 70-80mph would be damn hard to ride out safely. Such a horrible loss.
Lets stop concentrating on how it happened.... it happened, period. I listened to the whole thing over the radio at work and my heart dropped wondering who it was... was it someone I knew in passing, someone i rode with regularly? go figure it was someone from my home town... I had a blow out on a car at a high rate that ended up rolling the car, can only imagine on a bike....
wow....so much going on from that article link...Lucas's mom not wanting him to ride that day, and him being so close to Mike that they considered each other as brothers. Lucas expecting a child with his G/F. I'm sure it was Mike I ran into outside the auto zone in Waltham some months back...I was on my Ninja, he had his bike, and we talked bikes for a short while...amazing how people can cross paths with you and only later do you see the connection(s). Makes this all the sadder. Both brothers now gone.
To all the riders and supports... Thank you so much for your support you dont know how much it means to all of us. Luke was a great friend of mine and was actually riding my bike for this memorial ride. I was on the ride as well riding my friend craigs bike. I was up about 100ft in front when i looked to my right and saw huge flames and black smoke fill the air... I couldn't stop in time so a few of us got off the next exit and tried turning around. By the time we did all that they had luke in the ambulance and were taking him to the hospital. Praying to god that he was alright we tried to stay calm and headed to the hospital were not to long after his mom showed up and broke the horrible news.
May both Luke and Mike (the "brothers" as they called themselves) Rest in Peace together, watch over us as we pray for them everyday!! I LOVE THE BOTH OF YOU GUYS AND WILL ONE DAY RE-UNITE WITH YOU GUYS AGAIN!!!![]()

WOODYS, u act like i dont give a fuck about another rider who passed away, why dont u just leave your consonances and end it at that if you can even do that. I attended the first kids wake(mikes), and its sad that this one lost his life recently after,, so sorry to you big WOODYS or who ever else i might of 'AFFENDED: by trying to ask details about it just out of curiosity to see if any cars were involved, or bike malfunctions, ect.![]()
Salem News says the bike was borrowed and the rider "wasn't an avid motorcyclist". That was a quote from his mother. Not necessarily synonymous with inexperience, but take it as you will.
RIP rider.

Greenmonster yah your right, lets all be men and take this the right way, i just had questions like everyone else who's commented on this thing but apparently chris and more of woodys took this the wrong way but im not going to point fingers because i don't care that much. if a rider goes down weather they get up or no other ppl are curious to what went wrong. people are still asking questions about this other than me so i don't know why i got flipted out at for some reason but this is all going to far, his good friend stealth600rr is still answering his questions, HE CAN REPLACE HIS BIKE BUT NEVER HIS FRIEND UNFORTUNATELY, SO RIP TO HIM. stealth600rr If i offended you for asking witch i highly dough i did then please letme know.

God, sorry to hear this. May he rest in peace and I pray his family will know that if nothing else he is with his "brother" in a place where the corners never end and they've got each other.
R.I.P. guys.
When i was 18 i lost a friend who was only 16, and we all wonder why people die so young.. and this is what i came up, and it sounds like lucas was such a wonderful person... so this will apply to him... God i believe has plans for us in life... and sometimes it takes us til we are 90 to do what god has planned for us but sometimes a few of us touch so many lives and accomplish what he has planned for us in such a short time... it seems that lucas' has fufilled what will take us a lifetime to complete, and he is now in a better place, god called on him early and he is hopefully watching down on all of his friends and family...and fellow riders may god bless his family and his gf and his unborn child... life is soo short, ride safe
I read the boston.com and thebostonchannel.com stories and the comments that readers leave make me truly understand why i fuckin hate people. All these idiots are using a story about a young man losing his life to condemn the entire sport. It is an absolute shame that Luke died, and I wish his friends and family my condolences.
rest in peace fellas.....ride safe everyone...

I have been out of town without access to internet or cell for several days and just now coming across this news.
Normally a response such as 'I can't express proper sympathy because I've not been through the same situation' would be appropriate.
Sadly, few to none of us can say this as we all have been through this, we've seen parents cry over our friends' caskets, we've seen the pain in our friends' hearts so nearly anyone of us can express true sympathy now.
This is an absolute tragedy. The the immediate friends and family, my deepest, heart-felt sympathies. To those who organized this ride, be not discouraged, there will always be circumstances beyond your control and know that we all know your hearts were in the right place.
Ninjajim was correct, we must continue to ride, or the essence of our passion is lost. We must be cognizant of our surroundings and take safety precautions.
To my personal friends close to this, please know I am here to lend an open ear, and I'm sorry I wasn't around to lean on. Please provide address info for where to send sympathy offerings in lieu of flowers when info is available.
RIP Lucas
Godspeed
