    Mid-Priced Sport Gloves

I have been looking around for replacements for my Moto GP Nitrous gloves, since the outer leather layer on the palms have started falling apart.

I have it down to 2 mid-priced gloves:

    Spidi Sport Composite-R

    Or the Held Thrux:

No one seems to discount Spidis, they're $160 everywhere and only Kneedraggers discounts the Helds to $150 (the retail is $160).

Thoughts? Anyone have either of these?

Spidi runs a tad smaller than I woulda thought... I say buy wherever you can find em to try on.

I actually read through your thread from back in March. What did you end up with? The Spidis?

I vote for the Helds. I have a pair of Held Ninjas and I love them.

    Kobe Pro Racing Gloves.

About 120 shipped and very well constructed.

I've had a pair for a while and they have been excellent so far. Took a little while to break in but they are extremely comfortable now.

I've been using them as my primary riding glove so I can gauge their quality. So far so good.

Memory foam, kevlar stitching, riveted palms, CF armor in the right places.

IMO, they meet or exceed many of the comparable gloves that are much more expensive...like the Helds for example.

I saw your post on Pete's thread and checked them out on Kobe's site. They look pretty decent for the money. How comfortable are the metal studs on the palm? Do they bother you at all while you ride?

naw... went w/ the Alpinestars GP Tech's. Like em a lot, but they're definitely not "Mid-priced".

I'll put it to you like this, once I manage to find a way to kill these gloves I'm going back for another pair without question. Judging by the current condition and what I've put them through so far, it's gonna be a while.

I didn't find the studs noticable until they "clicked" against something and I haven't been bothered by them comfort-wise.

FWIW; I rode the FJR back from Florida with these gloves....that would be six 12-hour days and 2400 miles later.

If you wanted to check mine out for yourself, let me know and we'll figure something out.

    Re: Mid-Priced Sport Gloves

Still on the hunt for a new pair of gloves.

Does anyone own Alpinestars GP Tech gloves? I know they're not mid-priced, since they're at the top of the A* glove lineup, but you cna get them on eBay for under 2 bills.

    How's the fit on them?

I"ve got a pair in medium... size runs pretty true to normal. They're a little long in the fingers for me, but no biggie.

How do they feel overall? Decent? How was the break-in?

    Re: Mid-Priced Sport Gloves

They feel like serious race gloves. Comfortable enough to wear them every time I get on the bike, but not the #1 most comfortable gloves on the market.

You're welcome to check them out sometime. I'm heading up to Loudon this weekend to watch the Vintage races if you're interested. You can check em out then.

Thanks, but the medium is just a little tight for my pudgy digits.

    Re: Mid-Priced Sport Gloves

Well, after trying a pair of the A* GP Pro gloves for sizing, I ended up ordering a pair of the A* GP Tech gloves at $54 off list, shipped:

eBay Motors: Alpinestars GP Tech Gloves Red XL BRAND NEW (item 280242638795 end time Jul-10-08 15:43:37 PDT)
