I really hated the look of the stock mirrors on my CBR. Those rubber boots over the stalk were hideous. I purchased a set of Targa Formula 1 Mirrors, but they ended up having really short stalks and all I could see is elbow. They also have less adjustability than the stock mirrors.
So, I put the stock mirrors back on and cut the boots off. Now it looks ok, but I would prefer the metal on the stalks be black and not the gold color. I wrote to Greg about powdercoating, but since the mirror section can't be separated from the stalk without damaging the actual mirror, they can't be powdercoated, due to the plastic being melted when they're baked.
So, does anyone have any other suggestions? (besides rattle canning the things) Here are some pics of how they look in the gold:

Mirror opinions/help
Yah....don't look in it.
Do you have more info on the r/v camera option? Some pix possibly
Blind spot mirrors???? Works on my gixxer
how about getting the metal annodized
I wouldn't count out the rattle can option. If you sand the stalks down, clean it with a good prep alky, prime, then do a few coats it will look great and last. Proper prepping goes a long way, as does taking plenty of time to mask everything off nicely.
I just did my headlight surround black, it came out beautifully:
I'd be happy to help paint your stuff if you'd like...

I scuffed the metal up with some mildly abrasive sandpaper, then cleaned all the sanding dust/crap off with paint prep alcohol. Two coats of black metal primer, then three coats of Krylon top coat.
So far it's held up fine, but I'm sure if a big enough stone hits it that it will chip a little. The only thing that is going to really take the paint off are rocks or actually scratching it with something sharp; basically the same as the rest of the paint on your bike. Since powdercoating is basically out the question, I'd say it's your next best (and cheapest) action.
Yes, sounds good to me. This digital rear veiw camara thing has me going. Another way around all of this, is to wear tapered jackets. You can lift both arms and see behind you. I mean, instead of dropping your elbow, raise your elbow and see behind you. I tried it today with good results, but nothing beats rear camara video.![]()
Nothing substitutes taking an actual look over your shoulder. Taking two looks is even better so you can get an idea of how fast someone is coming up behind you.
On time on the way to bike night my brother told me that I looked over my shoulder and changed lanes but that some asshat was doing like 100+ and almost ran into the back of me. The lane looked clear when I looked back but if I had taken a second glance to get an idea of the distance that car had covered in the two looks I might not have decided to go in that lane.
^ agreed. There is no sense in spending the money on the camera when you can paint what you've got and head check more often.
