Also dont mistake comfort for safety. Theres no doubt that the arai is comfortable to the touch, but you want a helmet that "feels" like you are secure. My joe rocket i could fit my hand in on the sides and it jiggled a little bit on my head. My arai was fit to my head, and i cant move the helmet once its on my head, and it is still extremely comfortable.

unless your friends head is very very close to the dimensions of your head your doing yourself and your brain a disjustice.
If you're looking to try out a modular helmet and you're not picky about color, I just picked up a brand new Nolan N-103 for $200 shipped from bikebandit.com. This is the model with the internal retractable tinted "sunvisor" that moves independently from the main shield. It also comes with an antifog shield insert.
The helmet sells at most stores for between $360 and $400. Bikebandit looks to be blowing out their "Pearl Lime Green" N-103, most likely because not too many people like the color.

I haven't ridden with it yet, but I wore it around the house for about 30 minutes and never felt any hot spots. As for the color, I don't usually find myself anywhere near a mirror while riding, so I don't really care.
Hey, that's the helmet I was looking at!
I just decided to suck it up and use my current helmet until I have reason to switch...
I just realized the helmet my friend had was actually an Arai Quantum II. I'm a little dissapointed, but I'm just told I would notice it if I owned it for a week, not just one 30 min ride.
Not being a lid snob I have a couple HJC one is a Traditional Full Face and the Other a Modular with a J&M Headset in it. Unless I am hooked up to the CB Stero set up I lean toward the Traditional helmet.
