Hey all,
I'm getting ready to move to CT next month and I'm trying to determine whether or not I need to get my bike inspected. From what I've been reading, it sounds like you only need to get your bike inspected if it's a "composite vehicle," meaning it's been pieced together from other bikes.
Can anyone verify (or refute) this for me?
Thanks in advance!![]()
You need to have all out-of-state bikes or cars inspected before registration.

Gotcha, thanks.![]()
When I transferred my bike from MA to CT back in '05, all that was required was a VIN verification, no real "inspection" really (not sure if that's changed though)

I got my bike registered last month in CT. It was previously from New York. The only thing I had to do was get the vin checked, along with all of the other normal registration stuff. It really isn't a big deal. The only thing that was a huge PITA was the fact that I needed a special insurance called minor filing to register a motorcycle under my name since I am under 18. And the minor filing takes 2 weeks to process and get to you. But I am sure you don't have to worry about that.
So yea, basically it is just a vin check. And you can get that at certain DMV offices, or at certain car and maybe even some motorcycle dealers? I got mine done at Townline auto.
It's just a VIN verification, not a safety or emissions inspection. You just bring the bike down there, they check the VIN against the title, voila... Try to trailer the bike down there if possible (I certainly wouldn't suggest putting another tag on it, riding it down before the DMV opens, removing the tag, and telling the folks there that someone dropped it off for you)...well, you're coming from OOS, so you'll have another tag on it anyway...
Gotcha, thanks guys!![]()
